2008 6.7 waterpump changed & now have white smoke exhaust - need help
 

Hey guys, last week I replaced the water pump in my 2008 3500 6.7L cummins fired it up, bled off air,added more coolant and after letting it warm up for a bit all was good, shut it off coolant dropped a little, fired it up again bled off more air added more coolant then as it's warming again it started to blow white exhaust smoke. There are coolant drops in the tail pipe. All was good before water pump change. Need some HELP! Thanks:banghead

When I sent the post I was not deleted and really I'm not yet. I suspected the EGR and I have since removed and found antifreeze in it. My next move I believe should be to delete it and tho I'm not sure if I should handle this myself or take it to a experienced mechanical shop. I did find fairly good (with pix) instructions on how to go about it on this site and I'm still thinking about it. What is your take on doing this? I'm quite mechanical and sunk in motors in 1980's racing cars and still work on older tractors and farm equipment today. With the new tech stuff tho, I'm behind, but not afraid too learn just afraid to screw up.

Those instructions with pics were written and posted by Blake. Quite a few people have used those instructions to accomplish the task with little to no trouble at all. The biggest issue people have is going back and re-reading and finding they didnt unplug some connectors. 2 style of deletes Cali style or Blake style, the choice is yours. Hope this helps.

shnak, with Blake's instructions the delets are very simple and with the S67 Smarty you will have a better truck.

I am having kind of the same issue with my truck. Have an 07.5 6.7l. I have the items to do the delete but want to get this issue lined out first. My truck doesn't smoke on start up. It just idles really rough while I am in drive and throws off white smoke out the back at the same time. If I put it in N, idles fine and no smoke. I have changed fuel filters recently. Kind of suspect bad fuel. Only have 80K miles. So not even really broke in yet. But once I take off and drive, problem goes away. Truck runs fine other than this issue that have came up lately. Its done it before like once or twice. Now its pretty common. Any ideas on what to look for or get checked out? Thanks for the help.

Had same problem with my 07 6.7, had to replace egr cooler, only had 47,000 on it.started with water pump. Tech told me the gaskets were to blame not water pump. Was told that dodge no's about this problem and it is common, and expensive.

I pulled all my stuff off my 2007 at 3500 miles. egr cooler Dpf Etc. 115,000 now not a problem
