Xillaraider installed, where to go next?

My Xillaraider race module was delivered and installed on Monday. Install went pretty smooth. I think the hardest part was figuring out where to locate the control ****. It seemed like every place I wanted to put it wasn't flat, didn't have enough room behind it or had some sort of reinforcement on the back side of the plastic right where I wanted to drill through. I ended up placing it about and inch or so above the emergency brake release.

I was thinking that my next mod after this was going to be a high flow intake. Either Scotty or Quad (any thoughts on which one of these would be much appreciated). However, the last few days of enjoying the new power, I noticed that my exhaust temps stayed reasonable, even when playing with it. Fuel pressure on the other hand can drop to zero pretty quickly on the top two settings so I'm thinking that maybe this should move to the top of the priority list.

As a side note. The max boost I've seen was 40psi. This isn't too much higher than stock (spike at 35 then drop to 32 when wastegate opens) so I wouldn't think that it should present any drastic long-term reliability issues with the turbo or be outside the stock turbo's efficiency parameters. Does this sound about right?

I would do your intake and exhaust next. I went with an AFE and the turbo seems to spool faster. I agree your goin to need to mod the fuel system as well but I would run the chip on the 60 HP setting til the intake ,exhaust & fuel system were moded. From what Ive been told by Piers and DDP the stock turbo will overspeed but mine has been ok so far.

Yup, I'm thinking the fuel pump is on the top of my list also. I'm looking at the BD 1050227 because I will be replacing the factory lift pump on my fuel filter which was the setup in 03. This kit comes with the adapter to replace my stock pump.

You probably have an in the tank pump. There are many threads out there on Walbro, Holley and other aftermarket pump modifications. Good luck picking one.

Nope, on the 04.5 it's still mounted on the back side of the filter canister. I hadn't even thought about BD's lift pump kit. Wow! $265 sure beats the price of a FASS. I'll have to look into this one a little more.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Hey Sailpipes, I would probably look at beefing up the fuel system with an aftermarket fuel pump like a FASS or BD setup, then go with opening up the the intake air flow and putting on a freeflow muffler.

Yeah, I think that this is the order that I'm going to do things as well. I put on the free-flowing muffler at Christmas time and it did help even with the truck still stock. Thanks again for selling me the box HD Power.

Check out www.xtremediesel.com for the replacement BD pump, I think it is about $12.00 US cheaper. Good luck!

There is an inexpensive way to add insurance. You can add a holly type centrifical in series with the stock lift pump. It is possible push through the stock pump as well as suck through the Holley giving double redundancy in case of pump failure. In this configuration, you will see 12 to 16 pounds of pressure at the CP3.
