Wrecked 2006 can I put an older body from a gas truck ????
I have a 2006 ram 2500 with
The 5.9 cummins I rolled it and totalled it I am wondering if I could put the body from and older Modle that may have had a gas motor in it and have the cab mounts line up. Hoping that someone might be able to help!!!!!!

If you are going to be swapping the engine and tranny from the wrecked truck, as long as you have the wiring harness to go with the Cummins, and the donor body has the same tranny type as your Cummins set-up, you should be good to go with any 3rd gen 2500 or 3500 body.

I drive a 2005 2500, that was written off by insurance. I bought it as a rolled over wreck. The scrap yard had a 2003 1500, (gas) cab and front clip that I also bought. I stripped both cabs completely and swapped the interiors with no issues except for the remounting of the airbag computer on the center floor hump. The mount bracket had to be slightly modified but it worked. Both were auto but the 05 was shift 4x4 on the dash and the 03 gas was 4x4 shift on the floor, Chrysler uses a factory block out plate for the floor that just had to be transferred. The front clip of the gas truck was identical to that of the diesel. It had all proper mounts and clearances for all the diesel coolers. Long story short Chrysler must use a general common cab and clip that fits all engine models gas or diesel. But in your case I think there are too many small changes that would make it too hard to switch to the older body. Your better off finding an 06-09 gas 1500 cab and clip I think. My two cents.

Thanks for the input that cleared up a lot of questions.
