once I think I got my mind made up something or someone changes it for me.
I'm running the 4.2 and the TNT tune so I'm changing my air supply. After talking to Lloyd I was set on the 62/71/13 but still a little worried about lag so I start thinking 62/65/13 or 14 ect.. and now I'm back to using the stock turbo in a twin set up. I needed parts ordered last weeksooooo what are your opions? will the stock turbo/s400 work well or should I stay single for now and use one of the htt turbos? I'm staying with stock injectors and cp3 for now and don't want to spend the cash for a new twin setup.

im not saying Lloyd is wrong but I would step up to a 66mm to be closer to 600hp. I dont think you are going to get there on a 62mm with no injectors.
from what I hear htt does make nice stuff. the silver bullet 66 from industrial is very popular also.

well, in reality I'm thinking closer to 550hp. I know sooner or later I will have to change injectors but don't want to right now. My main concern is getting more air with little lag. I'm pretty sure the 66 with be too big for me right now. If I do a single I will probably take Lloyds advice and do the 62/71/13 but I have to think the twin setup using the stocker might be more fun to drive. Money talks, and I already have a stocker and a s400 turbo but not quite sure if the s400 will work for my truck.

Stocker/s400 is what I'm about to do. Nathan says that will support 650hp.
For what it's worth, my dad has a HTT 64/65/13ss and it spools very similar to stock.

I just got my 62/71-13ss on yesterday. The lag is not bad at all, just a little bit, a pressure box would fix it. Overall it is a great turbo, good egts and quick spoolup overall.

I think you are already so close to 550, get the turbo we've discussed or a 62/71/14. Lag is not an issue and I really think a little added pressure will blow your mind, especially on your truck. The only twins you should be worried about are not under your hood, they're waiting for us w/ a couple cold beers over at .........!

I love twins with cold beer,jack&coke,water......whatever but I also think a set of twins under my hood would be nice too

what mods does your dad have? I would think the drive pressure would be higher on that turbo vs the 62/71/13

If you have the $$, do twins. I'm about to rip my SPS66 for a set of MPI twins. Hope I can offload that 66!!

There are NO fancy single turbos that make twins obsolete. I had a very well known turbo supplier tell me that about 18mo. ago, funny they now offer their own twins!! If your only concerned with dyno #'s or obligated to a single for competition rules then a big 'ol single will do the job. However, Nathan at MPI wouldn't have a 3-5wk wait for his twins if a 62, 64 or 66 single (you pick the manufacturer) would perform like twins.

So If you switch to twins does that mean you have to run the unlimited classes at sled pulls?

Thanks for chiming in. What kinda boost do you see with it? Does it smoke on the low end?

don't want to step on anybody's toes that runs a single turbo charger they can be setup to work pretty good & they certainly have a place

my truck ran with 3 different types of single turbos
the stock turbo , HTT 62/65/14 & 66/71/16 ss all with very positive results

however with the MPI twin setup my truck drives worlds better then any single turbo application I had tried before !

truck is way more fun to drive lower egts , much better mpgs, smoother power, more power , quieter exhaust, the whole truck is just so much better it's really hard to believe there is that much of a difference !

the MPI twins nathan set up for me correctly & provided a drastic overall improvement !

I would not hesitate to run MPI stock /S400 kit
