Will cavitation from a fass system hurt my truck?

Installed a used 150 series fass system. I can hear cavitation when next to the filters and pump. Fuel pressure is a steady 21.5 at all times and engine starts much faster. This is all good but, is all the air being cycled through the pump going to damage it or the cp3?

what do you mean you hear cavitation? the FASS takes the air OUT of the fuel system, that is one of its main benefits

hope this helps

Yeah, the air is being pulled before the fuel gets to the CP3, hopefully.

Did you install the new feed pipe in the tank or just hook up to the existing one on the sending unit?

my fast is always stuck an ~21psi also, cant pull it down past 19.

It probably heats up the fuel a little, with it circulating that much, But I wouldnt worry about cavitation

I have stock pickup tube. I am just worried by the sound. Truck starts and runs better so did not think air was getting to cp3. But the fass makes many different sounds as if it was not getting enough fuel lubricate itself.

The FASS system has a bypass regulator that is constantly opening and closing that causes a change in the sound

sometimes when it is real cold, the fuel is harder to pump, thus the different sounds from the pump

hope this helps

Air builds up at the top of both of the filters. Once the air builds up enough to overcome the edge of the water separator filter nipple, it will pass though the pump and make a whooshing noise of sorts. Also air that is building in the fuel filter will make some noise when passing through the regulator going back to the tank.

You can try to pull from a 5 gallon bucket (Put return line into bucket as well or it will empty it in a hurry!) and see if your noise is reduced at all. This might show you, you might have a restriction in your tank pick-up. Your pressure is good (Actually a bit higher than we set them up for....but that CP3 is fine at that pressure) and your small pressure drop at WOT shows that its likely you don't have any restriction issues in your tank.
