wild smarty and southbend hold test

Just upgraded the Smarty to the Wild Torque management and set it to level 7. then i cranked the quad race to max and gave it a run. OMG! wowwee is that fun, until i looked at the boost gauge and say it was over 50psi! the wastegate is set at 47, the combo of the quad and smarty doing boost fueling and the large amount of fuel being burned must have pushed it over?! gonna reset the boost elbow so i dont lift the head.

but good god that is fast that way. gonna have to stud it really soon. i highly recommend the stack.

oh yeah, smokes really good(or bad) on that setting, havent tried level 9. and the con ofe held every bit of it.

Hmmmmmmmmm!!!! I wonder if there was a Video made of this or not?????? I sure would like to hear that Turbo screaming [guitar] !!!!!! By the WAY MERRY CHRISTMAS MAN!!!!

Peter builds a heck of a clutch!!! my OFE is holding 55psi through a ported 12v head... boost comes on HARD, not a hint of slippage!

wap 12-25-2006 06:23 AM

Good to hear the clutch is holding that kinda power

Good ? I thought the same thing. Is that just the name of that program for the smarty?

ramtd02 12-28-2006 01:52 AM

no it isnt just a name, the manuals have tq management as well!!

goodeyesniper75 12-28-2006 07:16 AM

i cant wait to see what the bully dog quad stack will make on sat.

BothellDiesel 12-28-2006 09:02 AM

Geeeez thats a tough clutch. I have not heard of an OFE slipping even when its abused......................................... oh boy, here it comes. Everyone and their sister will say they can slip it!

Has anyone ever dynoed the different TQ management levels?

With my '06 manual the only difference I've seen going between stock torque management through wild is the sensitivity of the go pedal. At no time has WOT felt stronger on stock vs the other levels, including wild. So the only thing the different levels give me is a false elusion of more power by making the go pedal ultra sensitive.

I prefer that WOT is actually when I fully depress the pedal, not when I've only pressed it half way. :D

Mega, the tq management option brings the power on sooner. Its not to give you more peak power it is to give you more power down low.

The sooner the power comes on the quicker the truck is.

If your truck makes 600hp but doesnt get there till 3300 rpms and until then is only at 400 horse its not gonna be as fast as a truck that can make that 600 come in at 1100 rpms. I think it basically flattens out the torque curve.

Sorry if I confused you but that is the only way I know how to explain it.

Anybody else care to take a stab at it?

drogers, he has another thread goin, I think he made 505hp and 1021 tq.

Wap,

I understand TQ management, the problem is the power doesn't appear to come on any quicker between the programs on full throttle runs. However, if you are just cruising around you get the elusion that it has more low end power due to the ultra sensitive go pedal, as half throttle is now essentially full throttle with the wild setting. Full throttle runs remain to feel the same throughout the different TQ management levels on my truck.

For me the TQ management options on a manual are nothing more then a gimmick. I would love to see some dyno runs to prove me wrong. And if the TQ managment levels are truely more then just throttle sensitivity, then how about a wild program without the ultra sensitive throttle? Marco/Bob?

Thanks!

I see, I missunderstood, I stand corrected.
