Why wont both my tires spin if my truck has a limited slip??
The TracRite is OK in dirt and snow with traction... The Ice is a different story ... LOL... No longer an issue as the E-Locker in the front is good. If I have a problem with the one front, and one rear wheel spinning problem... I just stop wheel spin press the magic go button to engage the front locker. Let the clutch out easy in 4x4 and I have no problem.
Once the rear hits some resistance the power will then go to both rear wheels and I can feel the difference. I have yet to play in mud to see if the resistance is enough to make both rears spin.
My only real issue was on ICE.
With so much weight in the front it is fairly easy to sink then having the front locker sure can help.
The Eaton E-Locker was difficult to get in. TONS of grinding, but well worth it to me. This truck is a tank now... i just need to fix the wheel hop issue in snow and sand.

Dan... I personally did not to the grinding.. a Local Driveline shop did it. He also did not route the wires through the housing but through the Diff. cover since it was so tight.
His a perfectionist, works alone and is well respected in the community for his attention to detail. He even cleaned up a bunch of sloppy wiring my local garage shop left when installing the GV over drive ... It's all nice and pretty. He made a point of showing me how he redid a lot of things... Also the factory balancing of the front drive shaft was a mess and he fixed that too.
If I have any problems he will just add material if needed.
I am actually looking for a low visibility solution to the wheel hop...
Supersprings?? http://www.mrtruck.net/springs.htm Not sure if this will help or if any good but may be the answer for the 3500 since the TuffCountry will not fit.
GDP sure are nice ... but costly and high visibility and reduced off road clearance. I can see crunching one on a hidden stump in a tall grass field.
Tuff Country Traction bars may be the simple way out...$113 at rocky mt..
I may still want an anti-sway bar.. but with the GDP I probably would not need it... That knocks off close to $400 ($120 for Tuff county + $250 for the Hellwig bar) ... so the GDP bars may be the ticket at $380 more.
Supersprings also seem to be OK .. I need to do more research.

John In NH... Sounds like you had a great person helping with the locker. The guy that did mine was the same way as yours. Actually there were two guys that spent waayyy to much time helping me out. You mentioned something about ice in another thread and I had the same thing happen to me.... it dont matter on ice!
Have you guys ever seen the G82 that GM uses in their trucks? Made by Eaton, I think it is the perfect diff for a truck.
I watched a truck drive up a ramp with roller tubes on one side. An LSD would spin, an open would spin, the G82 locks up and goes up the hill.
Then they stopped the trucks on the rollers and tried to re-start up the hill.. The LSD slid back down, the G82 walked right up.
Last test was through a ditch with one wheel up in the air, of course the G82 had no problem.
It's a mechanical locker that won't engage at high speed and wipe you out on a slick overpass, but locks when you need it at slow speed.

Did anyone ever come up with a pic? I am about to change gear lube and would like to check this out at the same time. Although i have never got stuck, i will say the corn fields in Southern IL are mighty slippery and these trucks are heavy!
or you could take a pic of yours and post it
Is this a poke at me? I have 2 friends that have had "poor" performing anti slips...well...their sticker said they had one. Pull the cover...and low and behold...open diff. No limited slip.
Just an observation...
I am sure the assembly lines are under so much pressure...that a manager may have to make the call to stuff an open diff axle in a truck that is supposed to have a anti slip if they run out.
Or...a mislabel...
Anyways...once you cover is off...it is really easy to see what is what.

I have not checked yet......I think my problem was stock tires
soon as I changed them mine started to work
but I still want to check to make sure it has one....
No this is not a poke at you, I am sure there are units that did not make it in trucks that where supposed to have them...that is why I want to physically check mine to make sure
all I did was the burn out test.

Any major part MIA in a new vehicle is a serious problem/accusation, and should be documented with photographic evidence at the least.
Dodge needs to be held accountable for their QC, and we don't need a bunch of CTD owners sweating whether or not the anti-spin they bought is actually in the pumpkin - we wouldn't want another urban legend, would we?
