What are you guys using for an oil bypass system ? How do you like it ? Where do you have it mounted ? Thanks guys.

 

Oilguard under passenger seat/frame that feeds into a Motorguard mounted below the air filter in the engine compartment.

 

I am using the Amsoil dual bypass kit. I have it mounted on the firewall above the turbo. I used 8 rubber fender washers to eliminated the oil pump drone as much as possible.

I run the Oilguard system. It's mounted on the tranny crossmember as recommended by MTM. Anything I can do to help the motor last longer is worth the $$$.

Frantz mounted on exhaust manifold at front of engine. It works great. All hoses are short. I ran mine to the oil filler cap. The oil is cleaner. No grit from soot.

 

i have an oilgaurd but my oil is still black after 3000 miles, i use rotella t 5w40 syn.

 

I was looking into the Frantz myself, is it a PITA to change the filter? I drive a lot and from what i understand they want you to change the filter every 2,500 miles.

 

I did a filter change last week. I waited overnight to let all the oil drain out.
I used Scott 1000 TP and rolled off enough paper to place around the filter housing in case of a spill.
Unscrewed the cannister and pulled the the old filter out and tossed it. More paper off the roll to clean the cannister. A little more paper off the roll to get a tight fit in the cannister. Replaced the cannister and tightened the clamp.

No slops no spills. Took me 6 minutes to do the whole job without rushing.

So far I like this thing. The oil is still dark but not black and there is no more gritty feel to the oil. After taking some oil off the stick and rubbing my fingers together, the oil seems to disappear.

As I think I mentioned before, I made up a pair of brackets (2 1/2 inches long out of 1 inch angle iron) that mount the filter to the exhaust manifold. The filter fits perfectly and is easy to access when you lift the hood. If you decide to get one I can send you pictures of the setup. I know they fit on the 3rd gen trucks. Got one on my '05 and my son has had one on his '03 for a couple of years.

One other note is that my truck is running quieter since adding the Frantz filter.

 

I have the FS2500 going on this weekend (unless the sockeye salmon starting heading up river) that will be mounted on the frame under the passenger side of the cab.

I have my FS-2500 on and really like it keeps the oil pretty clean not really clean but then again i have ALOT of soot blowin through this thing

 

Cjones42, if you want to do an amsoil dual bypass kit, do a search for john strenkowski 's kit or tdr screen name CPFF. It's the best thing out there pretty much - fully billet and mounted to the block with supports. Most folks that mount them elsewhere have a horrible buzzing that results from pulses in the oil pump which then resonates through the system. Being mounted to the block cancels the noise out. Do a search and decide if you want one - contact John- who's a great guy...
