Who is running the Southbend, DD, 3250, sprung?
Who is running the Southbend, DD, 3250, sprung?
I was just curious. I have the above clutch in my garage, but have not installed it yet. I read a thread on the TDR about the doube disc sprung hub clutches, but none of the owners are referring to the 3250, they all have more aggressive DD sprung clutches. Just hoping it is quiet & easy enough for the wife to drive.
Thanx.

I have the 3250... Wanted the best towing clutch around that would handle all the horsepower I'd ever throw at it... I installed upgraded hydraulics and the pedal pressure is about the same as my previous LUK... Only had it in just over a week so just breaking it in... Very happy so far!
I have it and love it. I have the NV5600 so I didn't need to upgrade the hydraulics, but you will probably need to with the G56 since the petal will probably be a little heavier. My brothers 06 with G56 and DD 3600 with the upgraded hydraulics has a heavier petal than mine with the stock hydraulics. Mine is heavier than stock but not bad. It engages real smooth and doesn't hop real bad when backing up. I went with it since I tow and back up a bass boat a lot. I'm very pleased with it. It is only rated for 550HP, so when I get up around that I guess I will see how well it holds it. Hope this helped. Tac

Hey Wap, i missed that question. I think they are organic. I will go check the SB website, if I find an answer I will report back. Is the 3600 organic, feramic, or ceramic?

I assume that they will make what ever you want but in general all 3600s are ceramic. They (used to at least, not sure about now) make the 3250 in organic or ceramic. And thought this may be common knowledge it may also be worth mentioning that organic is the smoothes but (for lack of a better word) the weekest. Then ceramic will hold better but is a little jerkier, then feramic is what is unsed in pullin clutches but from what I hear can be quite jerky and not for the faint of heart.
The 550 rating on a 3250 is conservatic. Even if it is organic you have twice the area of a Con FE. Not a good idea to be pullin a sled with it every weekend but an empty truck at 550 will likely never slip that clutch.
JM, is your PP the 4 finger or diaphram style?
I have ran both and I like the 4 finger better. After goin from a 3250 ceramic diaphram to a 3600 4 finger I could tell little to no diff in the pedal pressure.
Also if you can control the pedal the plate load should have little to do with the jerkyness. That has more to do with disc material.
