What's the Max PSI to the CP3? AD noise

This weekend I was trying to figure out what was causing my airdog II 165 to make noise. So I pulled the filters off & check for obstructions & check to make sure that all of the bolts were tight since it look like i had slight seepage between the base plate then the pump housing. What I did find out that if I adjust the pump pressure, the pitch of the noice would change. It was quite at 10psi, too low for my likings. But when I turned it up, just over 20psi, it got really loud. The just past that it would shoot up to like 90psi! But quite as can be, well except for a pump hum. There was no adjustment inbetween.

From what I've read here on DTR, it seems to that the CP3 should be able to take this much input psi. But does any body know for sure?

What type of pressure are people seeing with the Milska mechanical pumps?

Does any else run this type of pressure constantly to the CP3?

The pressure readings are from my Quadzilla pressure transducer. Since it fluctuates so much, I'm going to confirm the psi range of the transducer and talk with AD to see what type of range the pump can be adjusted since it goes from 20/23psi up to 90psi with less than 1/8 of a turn of the adjustment screw.

Just to let you know, I've been running it for about 1.5 days at/around 90psi. The truck it just loving it. Its got a more diesel sound, EGTs are about 50* cooler, less rail pressure fulcutation (was around +/- 500psi, now +/-250to300), cursing psi is down by about 1000psi and by the overhead mpg guess i've gained about 2mpgs!

The pump is not showing any signs of leakage. I'm going to run it like this for a little while to see what happens. That is unless others have had bad experiences running this high of pressure.

Thanks for the ears & the expert knowledge base of DTR!

90 psi seem slike your gauge is messed up check the gauge! it may be bypassing the sender or somthing when the pressure gets up higher sounds odd to me

I'm with you on that. But I don't have an other way to test it at this time. I'm still waiting to hear back from Quad & AD regarding the questions I go.

Personally I think that I only have about 30-40psi going to the CP3.

I just got some info back from AD regarding the pressure adjustment.

From the adjustment screw completely out....

3 turns in = 15-17psi
7 turns in = 30-35psi

It looks like my guage is the issue, but I adjust the regulator to the 7 turns to find where the gauge is and work from there.

i thought i read somewhere that Bosch specs for the cp3 should not excede 15 psi.....i could be wrong i`ll see if i can find that info.

SLVR Bullet Thanks for looking...

I did try it tonight... 3 turns was about 10psi & 7 was 20psi on my existing guage. 8 full turns is were the pressure gauge shot up to 90psi again. Assuming that the guage is accurate at the lower psi reads 8 turn should be approximately 23-25psi based upon the gauge & it would be 35psi if what AD said is true.

I'm still working out how I want to do the additional pressure testing. I have a gas fuel pressure gauge which I know is accurate. The only thing is that it needs to connect to a Schrader valve to read pressure. I trying to figure out where I do this at. I'm not sure if I want to T off the existing pressure transponder or at the CP3.

I've done some searching here on TDR & it seams that the mitakas pump run about 20psi at idle & are around 30psi near 2000 rpms.

I'll feel better once I can get a good pressure gauge on this.

the bosch ve pumps on the first gens are not to exceed 15 psi actually i think it is 18 psi but i think the cp3 is good up to like 35 or 30

There is nothing in the design that would balk at 100 psi into a CP3, only the lines leading up to it. Don't need that much pressure but it will take it easily.
