what tranny upgrades do i need

what tranny upgrades do i need

i called edge today and asked about hot edge and what i need to do to my engine for it to perform correctly and the guy said i need to do some tranny upgrades but he didnt tell me anything specific what to do with it and was wondering if you guys could help me out on what i need to do and costs!! thanks

since u got a 6 speed, all ya'll need is a better clutch. they range from about $500-1200.

and a short throw shifter would be nice but not necessary.

alright i kinda figured that i didnt need much but the chip is 180 hp so i was going to make sure thats all i needed. but im sure it wouldnt be good to leave it on 180 all the time without uprgades correct?

that's correct, it's not a good idea to leave the 180 hp setting on all the time. even if u had upgrades it's still not a good idea to use to highest setting all the time. it's fine to use and use frequently but not ALL the time.

your stock clutch should be good on the 100 hp setting for a while, if u can resist the temptation to floor it alot

is the clutch slippage the feeling when you floor it and it acts like the rear tires bust loose, but they don't? I know it might be an elementary question, but figure yall know more then me, actually to yalls knowledge-->

yeah im kinda new to all the diesel stuff and it feels like i have the same problem on my edge juice when im on level 5 and i put it to the floor.. is this what it is or whats my problem?

If the tach is going up and not the MPH then your slipping. For that matter it can be slipping some and still accelerating.
My stock clutch held too right @ 400 RWHP

yeah im afraid im going to have to upgrade my clutch if its already sliping on level 5 with just the regular edge juice. anyone have any sugestions on what type of clutch would be good for my 05 6spd??? im looking for something around $500 or so?!?!

yup that's the clutch slippin, if the engine is reving and your not moving but the tires arn't spining, something's gotta give,

razor, look into south bend clutches, they seem to be a very popular choice for the 6 speed guys. u gotta know which tranny u have before, since 05's had NV5600's and G56's. the way to tell is NV5600 have reverse up and to the right; G56 down and to the left.
