what size turbo????

Ok so with what i have in my sig. and i would like to hit around 600hp which turbo should i go with as a single and maybe in the future using it to run a compound system? also i will be adding pressure box, springs, sticks 90's, studs, mod the CP-3, and if you think i need to do more let me know. any help would be great just trying to get a better idea before i go buy one and find out that i should have got a different one.

Thanks,

I love my HTT, but not sure it would get you 600. I know it will get you close, and for a single will still perform nicely, and do great in a set of twins. That would be my pick.

How do you use your truck? Do you tow, if so how heavy? Is spoolup and strret manners more important that HP? There are lots of choices available but with turbo's everything is a compromise.

The 62mm turbo's by HTT and II would work great with your setup and could be used in a set of moderate size twins further down the road. You can do close to 600 HP but its going to be hot!

Step up to a 64mm turbo (in this case I like the HTT SS 64/71/13. This will get you to the 600 mark with slightly slower spoolup, and a small amount of surging while towing. You could also use this turbo in a twin setup but for what your HP goals are the 62mm in a twin setup would be a much better fit.

Now you could go with a 66mm turbo, sacrifice more spoolup for more topend HP. Surging is an issue while towing until you learn to drive with it.....

I do tow not as much as i used to but when i do it is close to 10K and i need a good quick spool up for racing because of my 6-speed and as far as HP as long as i get close to 600 with just one turbo i will be happy and then i will think about twins. so you think the 62/71/13 will work good? would the what would change if i went with a 14 instead of the 13?

Yes the 62-71-13ss will be the perfect choice for you. The 64 wheel will get you what you want, but you will be much more comfy with a 62, especially daily driving.

II SPS62 is also a good turbo, since you have a 6-speed lag wont be that bad at all even if you went with a 64mm....The SPS62 is good for 600hp from II but with a little giggle gas 700+ is good!!!

If you are still concerned about lag...then you might want to look at either II PS64 or 66, which will surge a little while towing but will spool very well and help you achieve 600hp....but will be very HOT and DP will be high. But for everyday driving and some towing with a little racing mixed in a 65mm EX wheel would be ideal...

So my votes are...
Not worried too much about lag while hitting 600hp...SPS64
Kinda worried about lag and close to 600hp...SPS62
Really worried about lag and dont mind warm temps...PS64
Afraid of lag and high temps in the 500hp range...PS62

A 65mm wheel will provide the best spool-up but will net higher drive pressures and EGT's

While a 71 wheel will have some lag, DP and EGT's will be way down.

Of course I am only speaking for Industrial products...but I know someone who has a HTT 62/65/13ss and LOVES IT!!!

I agree with Doug, a 62mm turbo may make 600 hp but it is really gona be too hot to use. To keep 600 hp cool you need at least a 64, or you could run a 62 with some water and that should help a lot.

With just a smarty beta on my truck (before the sticks) I could peg a 1500 degree guage with my SPS 66, and thats a 66/71/14. With the sticks it will actually get a lil hotter now, and I doubt I am at 600 hp and I have a 6spd and im at 800ft elevation.

A 62 may get you there, just dont expect to be able to use the 600hp much cause heat will definatley be an issue.

I have a REALLY HARD time getting my pyro over 1300* AT ALL...even while running TNT all the way up 1400* is my peak until boost gets up there then it settles around 1300*. Thats with 90's and a 62/71/14....

I tow my boat all the time on lvl 5 REVO and 1000-1100* is all I see and that's while lugging it....my SPS62 can keep me cool all day long!!!

62-71-13ss is an awesome turbo but will prob not make 600+ all the time. I have two buddies that run em one on a 305/555 and one on an 06' and they make low 5's with similar equip in your sig...that said it is a great turbo and I want one
