What do ya'll think of this power window/door/remote start/alarm kit?

Sometimes I kick myself for not getting an SLT so I'd have the power windows and doors, because I can't reach any of the other doors to roll down the windows or unlock a door for someone. I was toying with the idea of adding some power options via an aftermarket kit. I came across this one on eBay which includes all the stuff needed to add:

- Alarm
- Remote Start
- Power, Remote Door Locks
- Power Windows

It is going to be slightly under $400 shipped, which is the best price I have found online for any of this stuff. So, what do you all think? A PITA, a POS, or should I go for it?

im just going to say "good aint cheap and cheap aint good"

I dunno if you have ever installed an alarm but its quite complitacted. You have to diode isolate the doors, the start wire has to be wired into the wait to start light which I think is negative triggered. Any universal power window motors are not a good idea. Most cars and truck motors are vehicle specific, then the switches will not fit into stock locations. If I were you, I would look into an aftermarket alarm made by DEI (clifford, viper, python) and have it professionally installed. Your best route to is to try and find a local junkyard and pick up the whole door insides, window motors, regulators... heck, even door panels wont be the same because the window roller handle will be deleted.

Universal door locks are not a big deal, the door lock actuators are pretty easy to install. Overall, its going to be a big PITA. Im not a professional installer but my buddy is and you'd be suprised how a simple remote start alarm can take up to 7hrs to install professionally.

3rd gen trucks do not have a "wait to start" wire that you can tap. You have to get a starter that has a timed delay. Aftermarket power window kits are junk and a MAJOR pain to install. (especially since after your done they most likely won't work right.) Power locks are easy by comparison. If you really want this done, do what 8mpg said and get some doors from a junkyard. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear.

you are right...for my 04.5 we actually opened up the gauge cluter and soldered a wire onto the circuit board that went to the wait to start light.

Well I'm not too worried about the electronics side of it... I'm an Electrical Engineer. But the point about the Universal Window motors is taken, and I didn't know there wasn't a "wait to start" wire on these 3rd Gens. So that complicates things a little. I had toyed with the idea of getting some junkyard doors but it is hard to find them and even when you do the yards want mucho $$$$.

Maybe I'll just say screw it and just buy the Alarm/Remote Start/Door Lock kit, which is only a little over $100. I can deal with soldering to the guage cluster if I have to. I also have the FSM wiring diagrams.

Thanks for the opinions all.
