Watch aftermarket a/c condenser with banks
I recently purchased a new a/c condenser from an aftermarket distributor off of the net and at the same time bought a Banks Techni-cooler and intake. While the directions could be more idiot proof, they are exceptable. I only ran into a snag while installing the new condenser, the Banks kit requires you to move some of the brackets on your condenser as well as add two new brackets. The factory cond. has screws and as I found out the new aftermarket one has RIVITS. So I had to drill them out and while doing that I hit one of the tubes and had to take it to be repaired. So what did I learn, even if "Jose Ortega" at Parts Train swears that the thing is exactly the same, if it dont say DC on it I aint buyin' and you should'nt either. On another note to any of you plastic side intercooler guys , I have my "metal" one for sale on ebay right now.
I hade a rock put a hole in mine. So i bought a used one off carparts.com and took it to the dealer and said "hey, my AC aint working" everything was taken under warranty. I have my blown condensor sitting in my shed. Can they be repaired??
Im not sure but they re soldered mine in about a half an hour and $22.00 and it was a big hole. About 1/4" in a tube thats only 1/4" so I was really impressed. I might have done the same thing but I hit a dear with my old one. Stupid deer are gonna make me go into "Rambo Mode" if they dont stay away from my truck.
