Twins vs. single
 

What are the pros and cons of each? A lot of the smaller twins are rated to around 600 hp and a lot of all around(towing/performance) singles are 600-700 hp. Are there any differences other than the amount of lag?

A properly matched and configured set of street or towing twins will spool much better that any large single. There are a lot of variations that are application specific that come into play, but in general I would agree that twins are much better for street and towing than a large single.

My SPS66 is pretty laggy for normal city driving and towing, but I have learned to drive around it and am happy with the turbo. I have had it for over three years now.

Twins are definately going to be the better way to go with some pretty good hp. With twins you get the best of both worlds. Excellent throttle response with enough air to keep those egts in the "happy zone" for you.

I have been very happy with my single, it performs beautifully and is great for the price. I would like twins too, but for the power i want I don't feel they are necessary.

the reason rip is happy with his single is because he never had twins, i was happy with my single to, until i got the twins, now theres no comparison.

Singles suck unless you want a dyno queen.

So the twins really are worth the cash. Drivability is my main thing in mind, i know big singles will make the power but by the time they build up boost on the street your already ready to stop again. Talked to BD diesel today n the race twins seem like the way i'm going, thanks for the help

Twins are expensive and take up a lot of room. The air filter can be in a bad place for running in muddy conditions. I believe twins are better on the street than a big single by better controlling smoke and egts with out the problems a big single has. Big singles can surge and have problems controlling egts while towing not to mention the smoke waiting for them to spool.

Apples and oranges sir. I just ditched my sps66 for a set of Nathans twins they are in ALL ways better than the 66. Well except for price. I remember a time when II didn't offer twins and they told me that the Silver series "pretty much make twins obsolete". Funny, about a year later they had a twins kit available. As of yet I still haven't spent any more money with those folks.
