Turbo Whine

Recently had a magnaflow exhaust with a K@N intake installed and am real pleased with everything. Throttle response is better and the sound is awesome. I know I will catch some hell for this but here goes: I am not to crazy about the turbo whine that now screams through my truck. I was just wondering if I took the K@N out and put the factory airbox back, would it stop. Or is it the new exhaust with the free flowing muffler that causes this. Also, will I have any ill effects with the stock air box and new exhaust? I would appreciate any help. thanks!

If you put the stock air box and filter back on it will quiet the turbo whine. You will probably not hear it then over the exhuast at all.

I have read post that say do both to. I think its becouse the K&N will lower your exhaust temp. if your egt is ok do what you want. IMO.

You will not get as much benefit from just exhaust or just air intake. They work together to increase engine breathing, both in and out. Together they help lower EGTs and improve turbo spoolup. Keep the window up and radio louder until you get use to it.

I did the same took off the K@M intake and put the stock one back on and putin K@M replacement filter truck rounds good and I still here the Turbo but it's not as bad you can't go wrong by doing this the only thing your stock with a intake system.

Stock filter

Most of the guys are suggesting that you drill a 4" hole in the bottom of the stock box to improve the air inlet flow. This with a muffler upgrade seem to work fine.

Try pulling the carpet back from the firewall and adding some sound-deadning insulation.
