I personally recommend a timer that works off of egt. Timers are good, but how do you know how much time, with an egt one you set the temp and it figures out the rest, I bought the isspro one from diesel manor

read on the internet on turbo timers..i instaled a geddy timer bought off tech for 50 bucks he paid around 80 off e bady..cheap awesome unit and works fine on my 04...i think bullydog site said that egt's should be around 250F before shut down...i don't have mine set like that tho..just driving around town 1 minute 20 seconds i have it set for..plenty of time there..and my pda says 220 at this time..maybe this will help you and others.. oh, if heavy hauling i would say w/out egt hook up at least 4 minutes maybe less? haven't towed anything heavy lately.. oh crap yes i did was a 25ft boat..gross weight of 9000lbs..shoot i hope my minute and 20 seconds was enough??

The actual shut off temp is nothing above 350 -375, if you try to wait for 250 you will be waiting along time. The only time mine will hit that is when it is -20 here, and even then it takes probably 3 - 4 minutes. That is the problem with just timers,

I've had one from the time that I bought my truck, I have it set for 1 min for normal town driving, and I bump it up to 4-5 if I have been pulling a load/running my truck hard. It has a option to shut off on a pre set EGT, but I have not hooked it up. I like it. The remote starter is nice, too.

Yes you can run it with your exisiting pyro, you just t into the exisiting wires. The ISSPro was the best priced one I could find, and only from dieselmanor.com. they were over 80 bucks less expensive
