Turbo for my 07 with a G56

I am just wondering what a good all around turbo would be for my manual 07? I currently have stock inj & CP3...not really planning on upgrading anytime soon. I will be installing an AD150 in the near future. So I wondering what a good street/strip/towing turbo would be? I have searched and read till my eyes bled and think I have narrowed it down, but I am still looking for opinions. So, if my truck was yours what would you put on it?

Thank you,

Paul

Happy New Year!

Hey Paul best bet is to post exactly what you want this turbo to do. What are your hp goals or expectations , do you tow etc ? I'm sure many will post some suggestions. Any upgrade from stock will be a huge improvement when running the smarty on the higher levels.

Hopefully my 64 will be here soon and ill let ya know how it's works, I talked with another guy that has the same truck as mine with very similar mods and said he LOVES his. He said spool up wasnt bad at all with stock stick, then he put http://www.gethoned.com 's 45%'s in and said it spool even better and made the truck come alive!

I tow very rarely but never more thank 10k. This is my DD so I do not want a complete lag pig. This truck will be at the dragstrip every once and awhile. As far as power I do not have a set goal. I am looking for something that will go mid to low 13's nice and easy. I do not want to powershift this truck, so I really mean nice and easy LOL.

HTT 62/71-13ss all the way. Mine has been spectacular, just checked for play on the shafts after 20k miles now and its all nice and tight playwise, wheel spins alot better now than when it was new. I'm on stock inj and cp3, plenty of fuel and a little pressure will spool it up as quick as I want it.

Low 13s is gonna require quite abit of work, so for now I would got with what I stated, and later if it gets too toasty you can send it back and get it upgraded to a 64 wheel.

Yep thats what I would go for too, 62/71/13. That would give you a good boost in power and will still spool fast. Your stock turbo is a 60/60/9.

I am also looking into a turbo for my 07 G56, I wont be fueling any more than my smarty jr on 100 horse...with the crappy gearing of my G56 i really want a looser exhaust housing so im not boosting 20 psi cruising at 80 mph on flat ground. Would a 62/65/14 work well for me? OR a 71 exhaust housing? Keep in mind i have a helix II to help spool, do alot of heavy towing.

The 71 wheel is gonna have lower cruising boost.I have ran a 62/65/12 and a the 62/71/13ss.If all I did was tow I would go back to the 62/12,awesome towing turbo.Turbo's questons are gonna get the most mixxed reviews. What one person calls quick spooling, another will call it slow. One will tell you how their 66 spools like stock and another will tell you their 62 is laggy. It all depends on the tuning, parts around it and what you want in the end.

I can't speak for how much the cam will help but if everything I have read on them is true it should help make the 71 wheel spool closer to a 65

I agree with Jason.

For you levigarrett76, I would consider 2. The 62/65 or the 64/65. I would opt for the 64 wheel cause of the cam, I think it would spool nicely for towing.

I run a pretty hot program but on my hottest run i don't see more than 1350* even with my pressure turned up. Cruising egts are close to stock a little hotter at given speeds due to the heavier wheel.

Awesome! That is what I wanted to hear. How are you injectors holding up to the MP8. I would love to put one on my 07 but I have heard horror stories about injectors cracking and all that good stuff.

My stix have been fine so far, BUT I have an early 04 305/555 motor, which were known to have lower rail pressures across the board compared to an 04.5-07 5.9. Injectors are more a concern (or the integrity of them shall i say) on trucks like yours. They are more prone to damage from premature wear and extended high rail pressures.

So for you i would stick to the Smarty for now, and if you do get an mp-8 be conscious about its presence. Keep it at lower %s

what kind of power increase have people observed when going from the stocker to a 62/71/13ss? Right now my stocker hits 38lbs or so, and the new one will be around the same level or a bit more.

Just wondering.
