turbo info needed

Can ya'll explain to me what the splits are when I read about the different size turbos, for example 62/65/14? And maybe some advice on the size of turbo that I need. My 06 is a welding rig, weighs around 14K, and I would like to be able to pull a trailer when I need to and not worry about the egts. The reason I ask is because I was told by a mechanic that I trusted what I was wanting and he ordered me a silver bullet 66 turbo and it ain't worth a crap and now I'm stuck with this racing turbo on my work truck that is doing me absolutely no good. Thanks for any info and recommendations.

62 is inducer size of the compressor
65 is the exducer size of the turbine
14 is exhaust housing in centimeters squared.

Is the exhaust housing gonna have much of an effect between a 14 and a 12 as far as performance or egts go?

I had a 62-65-12 and it spooled fast but only lowered temps about 100 degrees. For 75 hp stix I wouldn't go smaller then a 62-68-13. Call ED and he will size it for you. I tow 24k gcw with my bullet, it is possible when tuned right. I actually like towing with it better then the 62-71-13 I had. I am guessing you have an auto so probably stick with the 65 or 68 exducer for sure. A 62-65-12 will not cool you off though for sure IMO.

Thanks for the info guys. My truck is a six speed luckily, I don't think an auto would cut it at all with the set up I have. I got ahold of industrial this morning and I've got the silver 62 on its way. They talked like that would be alot better for what I have and what I need my turbo to do. Eventually I'm gonna go with the aurora twins set up from ATS I think. I've heard that their twin set up is about the best to go with as far as everything fitting right up and everything is always with the kit that you need.

That should work well with the 6 spd. How much boost were you seeing with the 66 with the smaller stix?

I don't know. haha. my edge won't read my boost for some reason. I thought the quadzilla boost fooler was messing with that so i took it out and its still the same. I'm gonna have to get some more gauges put in i reckon. I put the 66 in the same time i put the injectors in so i don't know what it would have done with the factory ones. I'd say it would have been much worse, the exhaust might have been cooler but i don't know that i would have been running enough fuel to run that big of a turbo.
