Trans Temp Location in Tranny ?
Someone on the forum mentioned the correct spot for the trans temp guage sender. I believe it was the last plug towards the back on the right side of the tranny. Has anyone scanned or got a picture of the correct port ?

Forum Memeber ?
There was a forum member on here that went to the dealer to find out what plug always had fluid in it and he had a diagram but was unable to scan it. He said it was the most upper rearward plug that was not facing rearward but rather towards the frame on the right side. Does anyone know where i can find the thread or the user ? I did a search with no luck.

I found it !
I finally found the thread ! This is as per ten8fiftyone which i would like to thank. His qoute is
"Just spoke to the Dodge tranny tech. As the DiProcal instructions apparently suggest, on the 47RE and 48RE tranny you can use the governor test port. This port, as with the others, is 1/8 inch NPT, the same size as the DiProcal sending unit. There are 4 test ports on the passenger side of the tranny. Any of the 4 could be used, however not all of them have fluid in them ALL the time, only the governor port does. Looking at the passenger side of the tranny, the governor port is at the rear/side of tranny and furthest up the side. It faces the passenger door. The port directly below it faces the back of the truck and is the rear servo test port "DO NOT USE THIS ONE". You won't damage anything but it will not give you a constant read. The plumb in technique mentioned by BarryG above unfortunately will not work with the 47 or 48RE. The test port is an easy install for the sending unit. Just make sure you wrap or brush a little teflon sealer around the sending units thread. The tech also confirmed that you can tap into the integral sending unit wire, but you run the risk of damaging the PCM if you had a power surge. And that would be a "BAD THING"

I tried to install the sender for my autometer gauge in that hole, the sender seemed to large, not the threads the sensor itself was hanging up inside...can someone describe the proper alternative? Will be doing a 2500 mile trip towing a little heavy soon and want to babysit the transmission.
Thanks
Thanks
sending unit
thefb i just installed a autometer guage on my buddies 03 ctd . it has the 47 re trans and i installed it in the govener port. the hole is not tapped completely all the way through in that prot. what you were feeling is the end of the sending unit bottoming out. i stopped when i felt it bottoming out . i checked the guage verses the factory scanner i use at work and the guage read 10 degrees lower than what the computer reads off the govener pressure sensor. hope this helps some.
