My sender is in the hot line. Got it from Mass Diesel (good guys). So far 140-160 deg F. I was backing my boat up the driveway and the temp went up to 200 deg F . I think the brake override on the boat came off while backing, I better watch it .So much power did'nt notice. I just put on the parking brake and slipped it in neutral. So far I am looking to keep it below 190. Towing around town, has not gotten much past 160 degrees. When I get up to speed temp really drops. The temperatures have not been much above 80 yet here. Someone here was saying @90 degrees the temps will be 165-180 deg F. I plan on changing transmission every 15k miles.

Last weekend, when towing 7k from the Bay area to Reno (hilly) in 100 deg temps it got 150. driving, 170 at the stop signs

Hot Line

when you guys say the Hot line you mean the front line on the driver side of the tranny that goes into the cooler/Heat exchanger behind the engine right?
That is where mine is and i have no problem seeing 200, the other day I was way over loaded I was pulling 24K + and i hit 250.

Yes the hot line I am refering to is on drivers side. The mechanic at Dodge in Janesville WI, told me 230 degrees is maximum. I told him how I planned on keeping it below 190. He thought that where the probe is mounted 230 would be the maximum I would want to see. He said the transmission light would come on when the transmission sees 230 degrees. The transmission will shift different when the temperature gets higher. The light would go out at something like 220 degrees. I did not ask him where the transmission senses it's temperature. My boat is something under #6000 so (I have pictures posted) far around town & country handles nice. On Friday 1st of many trips to the Ozarks, about 7.5 hours.

My sensor is in the hotline also (Massdiesel line). I can see temps of 160 in town and it normally is 130 on the road towing. It is getting up to around 90 to 94 degrees here. Hot and humid. Break out into a sweet just cleaning water troughs at 6:00PM. Better than being cold.

My guage was on 250 for a while and my tranny temp light never came on.
Where it gets the temp from it must be cooler then the hot line.

Wow Car Hauler what were you hauling to get it 250. Pulling around town with a heavy foot only seen 160. I have only seen 200. That was backing the boat up the driveway. I did'nt notice the brake override came undone till I was finished. From what you said, Norm up in Janesville is right. The truck has 2 heat exchangers, I wonder what the cold temps are when it's 250 at the hot side.
