Just looking to see what all you guys think is the best aftermarket tranny to invest in is. I want to do some racing, as well as I haul my 3 horse steel trailer around regularly as well, and it is my daily driver, taking me across the city everyday. What do you all think? what are my options and how much am I looking at spending? anyone ever gotten a sponsor for a tranny to race?

I'd recommend goerend trans. billet shafts throughout (3) 'specially if you plan on adding anymore power. With that trans./conv. build, it should last you along time. Goerend stands behind his trans. 100%....I don't know his prices but might be around $5-$7K ??

On my trans./conv., I spent $4200 (base-stg. 1 ). I was adding twin turbos plus many more mods, so I bought a billet input shaft (another $800 + $300 est. install) which turned out that my clutch pack was close to being burnt up with under 5K miles.

Long story short, found a well known trans. guru around here, should of used him in the 1st place but I was a rookie to diesels when my stock one went....didn't have time to really research like I did when I found out about the guru. He's an ATS dealer besides a Suncoast dealer, ats wanted me to ship back the trans. to them and for me to pay round trip ship....Mike (guru) shook his head when I told him the whole story, anyways he took care of me. That was back at the beginning of this yr., trans. still works perfect...

 

I just ordered up a 2/3rds billet Georend. I also plan on doing twins and about 650-700hp. He steered me away from the billet intermediate because there are so many bad ones coming out of manufactures that they are causing more problems then they are worth. Give him a call and let him know what you want to do and he will recommend what you should go with.

I second that.. I have a 7K Goerend tranny with a snapped intermediate in my garage...

I would recommend Goerend any day of the week. He's the only one I know in any business that will return your call on a Sunday when he's closed and stay on with you until you are fixed or get gets a plan to fix ya.

He sent me a new tranny with a new stock intermediate, and it shifts better than my original goerend from 2 yrs ago.

 

There are tons of different opinions on what tranny is best. I would call around and talk to Goerends, DTT, Suncoast, Ats, ext. After you speak with them you will know what is right for you. They all make excellent products and they all have their own flaws. Picking a tranny comes down to two things, who you are comfortable with and where they are loacted incase you do need work.

 

I spoke with Mike??? at Goerends, and that's where I'm getting my built tranny. Their base tranny includes a whole new tranny, with the triple torque converter(with unlimited warranty), and upgraded VB, 5 disk cluch, billet covers, all for about $3800!! Add a billet input shaft, billet flex plate, billet output, and that puts you at about $5000. He too steered me away from the billet intermediate secondary to quality control issues.

He also said if I got it, he would stay close to the phone if I was going to put it in myself so he could walk me through any issues I might have.

 

since you are in Canada you might want to check out NADP, they build some serious stuff up there, or Gorenend. whoever you go with make sure you research them, some people are just out there for the money and have horrible customer service.
