TracRite E-locker AKA "power wagon locker" wiring...
#16
I just talked to just differentials and the guy said he would e-mail me a write up with photos of how they installed one on one of their shop trucks. I'll post the results when I can.

That'd be great. Looking through the threads, I'm sure there are others who would like to install one. If the time comes when I have to remove the inner shafts, I might just throw one in. I have a detroit locker in the Jeep because I kept my axle-disconnect feature and didn't need an Eaton E-locker or a Detroit Electrac.

Mark carrier bearing caps with punch (they must be installed in the same location). Remove adjuster locks. Back-off the threaded adjusters by rotating them outward. Be sure that carrier is supported as you remove 4 carrier bearing cap bolts. Remove carrier.
Remove 12 Ring gear bolts (Note: They are left-hand thread!). Use punch to remove ring gear. Flat file Ring gear mating surface on both the ring gear and the new locker.
-Clean any debris or oil from threads.
-Flat file Ring gear mating surface on both the ring gear and the new locker.
-Install Ring gear onto new locker. (Do not use bolts to pull ring gear onto carrier)
-Ensure ring gear is fully seated & torque bolts to 75 ft. lbs.
Install actuator with the 3 supplied button-head screws and torque to 12 ft lbs. Press carrier bearings onto new locker.
Install new locker into housing.

-Torque cap bolts to 80 ft lbs
-Install adjuster locks (use red loctite) Route the black and white wire under adjuster lock to prevent movement (do not pinch wire)
-The yellow and red wires are not going to be used for std installation.

-Install rubber grommet.
-Run the black and the white wire through grommet w/ some RTV to prevent leaks
-Install coverplate, make sure wires have adequate clearance.
-Install axles, hub assemblies, calipers, abs sensors, etc.
-Fill diff w/ gear lube to proper level.
-Test locker w/ 12 volt supply.

Im willing to bet it doesnt matter which is powered + and which is ground.
a coil doesnt care. it will still pull the core in. try it both ways on the bench if you want.

The only reason the OEMs will tell you this wont work is due to the fact your trucks dont have the controls in them for these lockers and the non-PowerWagons arent set up for the sensor target magnet (different bearing cap). Not sure what will happen with the ABS and such when these are engaged - probably get a dash light. Just be sure not to engage them when going over a few MPH's. And make darned sure there is no way your wives or anyone else can engage them and not know it.

The axles are the same, and yes the Power Wagon locker fits I know because I put one in my 06. 2 wires to actuate, just need power and ground and a switch on the dash, can be locked at any time so be careful not to bump the switch without knowing. Mine was in a 06 3500 single wheel with 3.42 gears, G56 manual and 37" tires. I broke the locker....Get an ARB, that is what will go in my new truck, at least ARB has a life time warranty.
