Tool Kit

I kept a tool bucket for my old gasser and my wife's Toyomoto...Tools like wrenches for drain plugs, tensioner pulleys, spark plug sockets, trans pan sockets, torx bits, filter wrenches etc...

The tools I would use frequently...all kept in one place so I wouldn't have to hunt them down, remember or figure out what size [duhhh] , etc....

What would be some tools (and sizes) to keep handy for this new fangled diesel thingy? :D

As a side note...Whadda u guys usually carry in ur trucks? I've got a tow strap, frame hook, ratchet straps, small tarp, first aid kit, extra hitch balls and wrench, triangles and flares, hand tools.....Uhhmmm...Something else ( I forget) [dummy]

Well, of course you need some disposable baby wipes for whatever gets dirty, an inverter to power laptops or cell phones, a flashlight, some waterless hand sanitizer (for your wife, not you), a tire pressure gauge, some disposable plastic cups so everyone won't have to drink from the same bottle (water of course) and maybe even a compact pair of binoculars. :)

Geez, about seventy-eleven different types of screwdrivers, each and every one wore out, 8 or 10 wrenches, all the wrong size, two busted log chains, a frozen 7.5 ton hydralic jack, numerous lbs of unmentionable stuff I stepped in, and probably two or three stray sockets.

Even with this batch of tools, you can get things done.

I REALLY need to get the toolbox remounted in the bed. Seats are getting a wee bit full.

I've got the usual tools, screwdriver, pliers, wrenches and a socket set but I also carry a spare fuel filter or two and the 1 1/8 socket to remove the fuel filter cap. I pickep up a spare serpentine belt off ebay about 1 1/2 years ago also.

in an aluminum toolbox in the bed: 2x 30k tow straps, small shovel, 2x ratcheting tie-downs, 5gal of extra fuel, 4ga jumper cables, 12ton bottle jack, hammer/axe, emergency flares and a fire extinguisher. in a smaller craftsman toolbox inside the aluminum toolbox: 30pc craftsman tool set (basic wrenches, ratchet, sockets, screwdrivers, pliers) 18" pry bar, first aid kit, 15" crescent wrench, spare fuel filter.

i've used most of this stuff at one point or another in past trucks, figured better safe than sorry.

Keep 'em coming!!

I keep my tools in the front of my truck to have extra bed space along with better security. I guess if I got a single lid tool box I could store in the bed, but since I dont use my back seat and most of the time I dont use my passenger seat, I use it for storeage.
