Took my AFE Stage 2 off today to clean it....

15,000 miles, was not impressed.

There was tons of fine dust in the tube all the way to the turbo. All the clamps were on fine and nothing got past them. I have the pro guard 5 filter on it with a sock condom.... i think its time for a pro guard 7

What do you guys find after about 15,000 miles? I took some dusty roads, sure, but still.....

I have about 10,000 on my Stage II w/Pro-Guard 7 and pre-filter. I was planning on pulling it off this weekend and see what's inside, clean the pre-filter and check the Pro-Guard 7 out. I will let you know what I see. I had the AFE Stage I w/Pro-Guard 7, Torque Tube and pre-filter on for close to 30,000 miles. I had that filter off a number of times and never found any dust/dirt on the inside of the tube. I cleaned and re-oiled that one around 15,000 miles.

Cool, thanks man, let me know what you find. I'm gonna take it off again when I get home (am out of town working now), clean it and re-oil it again... and check. I did take some very dusty gravel roads since i put it on..but still. I think I'm gonna order a pro guard 7 just because... i want a clean spare at any time with me.

Anyone know if one can buy a paper cone filter (like a fram) to work on this setup?

Igor, Get an oil analysis done ASAP. I find CAT dealers the fastest and cheapest. I think I saw a post on here about where to go in Alberta for best cheapest. If not do a new thread. I'd go to a truck place and get a Fleetguard Duralite BHAF. The proguard is reusable isn't it? If not call up or PM Scotty and get a Uni that will fit and be done with it. I wouldn't go proguard if you are having trouble with them in your environment. ks

Igor,

I am a major promoter of the Pro Guard 7 for diesels as you can see by all the posts I have made about it, but even still unless you live in a rock quarry the 4 layer won't do what you mentioned. I think you have a leak somewhere, double check each connection and look for dust "trails" in the inside.

well, like i said, i could not find any real "dust trails", although i can't say the calmps are anything to write home about.

Its hard to explain, it was not that bad, but still there was some fine dust in there.

Do an oil analysis why? ... i just changed my oil.

Thanks guys.
