Are they baffles or vortex straighteners?
So I took off the large tube to the tuirbo inlet today. I wanbted to get a good look at the "baffles" and remove them. I was expecting something different I guess. Are we sure they are intended for sliencing? I almost think they are intended to straighten the air entering the last elbow into the turbo. That elbow has directing vanes in it, which leads me to beleive that these baffles are more to keep the air straight going into the elbow, rather than help silence the turbo.

I'm no engineer, but I'm pretty that the horizontal vanes would cause the air charge to tumble on its way onto the turbo. Seat of the pants observation on my own truck showed better throttle response upon removal of the restrictors.

I removed mine about 3 weeks ago, when I did the silencer ring removal. I haven't noticed any change in the power delivery of the truck. The turbo "whine" is more (just a little) pronounced tho, but I was hoping it would be a bit louder, maybe after airbox and exhaust mods...:D
