Is there an easier way to remove the silencer RING!!!! I'm going crazy

How in the heck do I remove the silencer ring in my 06? It was very easy in my 2 12 valves, but this truck is impossible. What are the tricks/

I used a big fish hook in a pair of vice grips.

The end of my snap ring was in the 3 0'clock pos. I first removed the oil filter and then ground down an old flat head screwdriver to fit in the groove and popped it up with it and then used another screwdriver to pop it the rest of the way out. It probably took me an hour.

the ends of the snap ring are angled, if you have a hard time gettin the one end you are trying, try the other end, it may be easier to get under. Just take it easy and don't nick those blades !

Remember that you can only pry on the one side. I fought with the one on my 07 for a while before I figured that out...
Use one small screwdriver to pry the one end up and out slightly and hold it there. Take another and slide it in behind the ring where you just pryed it out. Now you can remove the first screwdriver and use it to start working your way around prying the ring out....

Just reach in there with a pair of vice grips and pull it out.

I got fed up with mine and said screw it.
