Symptoms of bad injector or leaky

Do injectors just ever give up qne quit working?? Today with smarty(4.2) alone and tst off Im getting some white/grey smoke. If I get on it it from a dead stop it will roll the coal and have a little of that white/grey mixed in it and as soon as that clears up it starts hazing a good bit like white or white/grey. I then let off the gas and while Im coasting to a stop its constantly still hazing like white and was sitting at stop sign and it was hazing the white/grey also. I think its more white then any color. Motor feels strong still on bottom end smarty alone. But tonight on interstate on way home I got on it at about 70mph and it started spittin a sputterin on top end.. ???? Any ideas? I checked my oil like 5 times and its about a Inch over the hash marks on the dipstick.. I remember checking my oil about 2wks ago and it was in the hash marks. Do yall think the stock injectors are about to let go? BTW I just had the Rail Pressure Sensor go out this past week so my truck saw MAX RP while the senor went out. Maybe I damaged a injector?? When the sensor went out I drove the truck about 20mph about a mile back to my house and cranked it up once or twice trying to diagonoise the problem.. I turned the smarty down to sw5 and i couldn't really get it to haze that white smoke anymore. What yall think? I got a leaky injector??

I Had A Broken Injector On A 06 Dodge. My Crankcase Filled With Fuel. Remove The Valve Cover And Start Your Truck. It Will Either Shoot The Hood With Fuel Or Leak Around The Injector. You Can See The Fuel Leaking. Thats What I Did And My Injector Was Broken. I Replaced It And Its Run Fine Since. I Ran A 12.85 @ 104 Mph Last Weekend At The Ats Diesels On The Mountain At Bandimere.

It seems to idle fine.. Its only white smoking if I get on it around 1/2 throttle or more and once it starts smoking the white it was haze white even at idle for a bit and then clear up. I noticed just driving around town pulling away from red lights and give it a little more then 1/4 I was getting more white smoke then black.. I never spits and sputters on top end like it did tonight though.

You have a bad injector, white haze on start and sitting idleing, that is why you are making oil (unburnt fuel is getting in the oil). I have had this happen 2 times.

I think you have an injector hanging open allowing fuel to be injected at the wrong time and burn in the exhaust system. Fuel that is not fully combusted makes white smoke. I'd guess the white comes and goes because the injector is only dribbling a little and then gets fully shut off sometimes after a little idling.

Your 20 miles of extreme pressure may have been the straw the broke the camel's back and damaged your injectors.

These other guys that are talking about making oil are diagnosing a cracked injector body, not a hung open nozzle.

Big Blue is right, there is more to leaking injectors than just cracking the bodies. The most common failure with the CR injector is cracking the nozzles. Most crack from the alignment pin to the fuel hole, where the nozzle meets the body, or from hole to hole on the end of the nozzle.

You have to pull out the injector body, and then remove the nozzle to check for this, but your best bet would be to take your truck to the dealer and have them run a flow percentage on the injectors.

Well I been keeping a eye on coolant and oil. The coolant has not moved any. I think I got a injector thats barely dribbling. It just started today and only really does it on higher SW settings. Im running 4.2 beta so it fuels really hard.. I checked my oil again tonight and its in the same spot as it was earlier so it must not be dropping to much if its dribbling. But its still about a inch over the hash marks. The truck has been running a little rougher then normal when driving but nothing to bad. I got 6 new injector bodies and was fixing to send my stock nozzles off to get honed and put on the new bodies. I wonder if my nozzles are good now???
