If it is possible to get the truck you want in a 04.5 model. Do that. The 05's have a cheesy plastic component intercooler that are said to fail easily.

What about a performance cam and cylinder head porting? Does anyone have dyno results for these on the 2004.5 and can comment on how these modifications affect normal driving?

I take it the 4x4 transfer case can handle gobs of power since I haven't read any posts of it failing in some of the higher HP trucks?

Thanks again for entertaining my questions....glad there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here.

From what I understand over 50lbs of boost you should o-ring the head, head work and a cam will control EGT's. A cam will control EGTS and move the power where you want it...

I am planning on doing mine when the box people work out the bugs. Seems the fuel rail is the limiting factor for now...

I run 50 to 60lbs of boost and have the stock gasket no o-rings or studs, I just make sure that the engine and oil temps are at operating temp.

Fred -- Can you tell me more about the hydraulics on the 3rd gen? I had a SBC 3600 6cb dual disc installed. I didn't upgrade the hydraulics and the pedal effort increase is quite a bit. It's my understanding that anything above the 3600 requires a hydraulic upgrade.

If mine was upgraded, what kind of a cost should I expect and how will it affect the pedal effort? It isn't too much or even inconvenient for that matter, but my wife cannot drive the truck. Thanks,

David

dsteinke,
Go ahead and buy yourself a 12 Valve master and slave unit.
Even the 36's will blow the oem master on a 3rd gen.
I blew mine with the 3850. I now run the 12 Valve setup with a modified and adjustable Master rod.

Buy some insurance first and put some gauges on before you get to crazy.

I'm with Don, 03-04 HO. Seems to be the best of the bunch bombing wise in the HO. I'm somewhere around 500 hp, need to get on a dyno. Very streetable.
