ive seen the 305/70/17 pro comp on a couple trucks they look like a pretty good tire. they are available in E load range. that guy posted pics above of his trk you asked about. a guy had that size on a ford with some nice wheels at the local diesel shop I thought they looked pretty good.

The X-Terrains are great tires, had 35" x 17 on a 2002 Dodge 1500 4x4 with the 5.9, 3.92 Limited Slip, and a 6" Superlift kit. Performed superbly offroad, but only lasted about 20000 miles per set. 10 mpg too, that's why the 2002 1500 morphed into a 2006 2500 SLT Reg Cab 4x4 with the Cummins. I'm averaging 16.5 mpg mixed city/hiway Got a killer deal on the '06 4x4 2 weeks ago, now I'm a converted oil burnin' fool!

my next tire will be the xtreme all terrain also. I have used the xterains and they wore down fast even on a 1/2 ton chevy. I have been running BFG A/T K/O for about 250k between my last two vehicles and I am going to switch, the procomps have a 40k warranty for tread life which is on the low end of what you get for BFG but they have a real nice side wall patern that I love. It was either these or the Toyo M/T and procomps are alot less expensive.

As for the power loss. I have 4.10 gearing so the bigger tires actually help me with top end and midrange is not affected. low end used to be affected before performance enhancers were used.

They will probably weigh more. If you go to the websites for all of these products they have all the specs. When I bought my tires and rims I did extensive research, I knew that for the final gear ratio that I wanted to acheive and weight that I wanted I had to go with my present combo. There are lighter rims, but I couldnt get the proper bs and offset, so I had to settle a little bit.

I am running Falen stz4 305 50 20 tires, they are 32" diameter, and at 49.6lbs they were the lightest tire that had the load rating that I needed.

Oh and for stock tires, they are not 32" you have to have a 285 70 17 to acheive an approx 32 OD. A 265 would be, as stated earlier approx 31"

I'll agree with Kevin. I used to have the stock steel wheels on mine, and the 20" wheel/tire combo I bought felt about the same if not lighter than the stock set. I got rid of both sets and now have some stock 06 polished aluminum rims with 285 Toyos. They look great and ride very well.

Its the rims that are making my truck look stock and NOT BAD. I can have 33" or 35" tires and its still going to look ugly. Considering my truck rims are only 8" wide and the MOTO METAL 951's are 9" and a better looking rim. So im just going crazy trying to figure out if I should stick with 17" or get 18" wheels. I've definetly made my choice about the wheels that I need new ones but if I get new wheels, whats the point of sticking with stock size, so I think 18" wheels but then 35" is still kinda big and dont want to loose power so maybe 33/12.5/18 is good for me??

check around on websites of the tire manufacturers and it tells the weight of the tires so you can see what they are. you will find it interesting how heavy some bigger tires are.

alot of the 17" rims will not fit our trucks, that is the problem I ran into with aluminum aftermarket wheels. the break calipers are too big and will rub on alot of them. make sure to test fit whichever design you want to buy as the rim walls will vary in thickness making the inner diameter of the rim smaller than the stock rim.

I like my chrome moto metal 951's but they do stick out about a 1 inch on a second gen so you will prob want to add fender flares if not you have stuff slung all over the side evertime it rains.
