I know I took 35/13.50/20 tires off because they weigh 83 lbs each. on a junky scale they weigh at least 80 in my garage. I went back to a 305/50/20 and it seems like the truck runs better than it did, quicker at least because the tires are lighter. the lightest wheels and tires seem to be the stock aluminum wheels and the michelins that I have moved around, but I dont think they will do the best on the drag strip. I run toyo proxes st tires now for something lighter. I put these on to take it to the drag strip at some point.
to me drag racing on mud tires cant be safe, the speed rating on them is not very good. my tires are rated for 149 mph. I know my trk wont run that but I like knowing they are safe at high speeds.

My BFG 315/70R/17s on stock 17x8 chrome clad steel wheels weighed about 105lbs each. I had a matching chrome clad steel wheel with BFG 315 mounted under the bed. That's around 540lbs of tires and wheels. One of the reasons I switched to the Power Wagon alloys and 285s.

most quality mt's and at's are rated to 109 or 119...

You need a real quick truck before you get to bent out of shape!

BTW the stock tire is 32.64 inches OD...and a 315 is 34.5 inches OD.

So it is more like going from 3.73 to 3.53...which happens to be the correct gearing for strong quarters from our trucks.

It is only a 6 or 7% change max.

My 18" wheels w/33" Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's (tires alone are 88lbs apiece) cost me .5 in the quarter.

I switched them out for the stockers and within 30 minutes I went from a consistant 14.1X to a 13.6X. Needless to say the stockers go on at the track from now on. Believe me, you can feel a 1/2 second difference in the quarter.

Tire size labeling isn't a definate size. I understand that 70% of 315mm might be 34.5 inches, but the actual diameter on my brand of 315s is 34.85. Just like from brand to brand a 35x12.50 ranges from about 34.2 to actual 35. Kind of like a 2x4 isn't really 2"x4".

I honestly didn't notice that big of a difference going to 35's from 33's and that's when I was stock. Even when I put 16x10" wide rims on I didn't notice a difference. I do know that the truck is a little doggier around town but get it up on the highway and run or catch me when I'm around 40-50mph in 3rd gear and this truck is gone. If anything, the added weight put more load on the engine and that helped the turbo spool up faster. Or maybe it was the converter that did that? One way or another I don't really notice a big difference with 35's and I've got 3.54 gears stock. If I had 3.73's I wouldn't even begin to worry about the 35's.

so your stock setup was 13.6 w/ 265 and 17" and you got a 14.1 with 33/18" ???

This is on my 2nd Gen. At the time I had Mach 2's, Edge Comp, and Smarty. The stockers are 265/75/16" (31.6") I went from the stock tire that weighed approx 25-30lbs to the Baja ATZ that weighed 88lbs and 1.5" taller.

my tire/wheel combo seems lighter than the stockers, but I did not weigh them, just from picking them up when I changed them out. The handling and ride improved alot. It's not as rough going down some roads when unloaded anymore.
I went with 17x9 XD's, 35/12.50/17 Mud Country's, Pro-Comp leveling kit w/ Pro-Comp shocks @ all corners.
Acceleration is a little slower, but not so much. It bites now, where it used to spin.
just my $.02
