Anyone with chrome stacks from blackclouddiesel.com run into rust? I like the price of their kits but they have chrome stacks not stainless steel. I've had chrome tips before and they didn't last more than 9 months. I also would like the 7 inch mitre cuts. MBRPs are stainless but only go to 6 inch.

 

I'm running chrome stacks and have been for a while. Only time I have run into rust is if I leave the soot from the dyno runs on them for to long but all it takes is some time and buffing and it comes out.

 

Well if they're prone to rust, even a little, then they're not worth it. I keep my truck pretty clean, but sometimes you miss things and they turn into big things. I think I'll go with the MBRP stacks so I don't have to worry. I'm not a woman, so what's an inch gonna hurt?

 

I'm like you but this is surface rust if even that. It's really not a big deal. I just wash them once a week and wax them every time I wax the truck and they look great.

 

I'm sure if keep a decent chrome polish on them they would stay pretty nice. One thing you have to remember though, you live in Texas and I live in Wyoming. It's not the North Pole up here, but you'd think it was with the amount of salt they use on the roads. That's what killed my last chrome tips. Do you know of anyone that makes a 7 inch stainless stack?

 

Ahh. True. Well for what it's worth I've been to the beach several times with there and gotten salt water on them and so far so good. I am very picky about hosing it off as soon as I get home though.

 

Can't hose'm off when it's below freezing outside. May evaporate off the exhaust but not the truck. If I live close to you I wouldn't hesitate to get them. They just look cool.

 

from what I heard about BCD their kits are good at best. You need to buy your stacks from a reputable company or dealer.

 

Do you have any recommendations?

if youll keep em polished they wont rust. (heck, ive washed mine 2x since i put them on 2-3 years ago, and ive never had ANY rust)

They look sweet, i have a harder time keeping the soot that mixes with water and runs down the side off. man, that stuff is tuff!!

 

I think that the stacks are a lot easier to keep from rusting than a chrome tip that is down low. The stacks don't get rock chips and other crud form the road nearly as bad. Like they said earlier the soot is the hardest to clean off. I don't think that rust will be a problem with the chrome ones because they are up in the air, rust gets bad when it forms around a rock chip where the chrome plating was damaged.

 

That's true. Are yours chrome? Your climate has to be close enough to mine. Also do they use a lot of salt on the roads?
