sps 66 or ps62???

just curious why everyone buys the sps66 instead of the ps 62 turbo the performance shop around here is trying to push the ps62 but i want the sps66 they said for my application and towing the sps can get out of hand when spooled up and i run a 91% torque also may give me some turbo lag taking off, is this all true?

The sps66 is slower spooling than the ps66 because it's bigger. For towing you don't want a slow spooling turbo and with your 91% TC your gonna notice the lag.

If you are going to tow get the 62 version.
You will be alot happier with a faster spooling unit.

Do they not make a 64mm version? Seems that would fit most peoples' agenda a lot better since the 62 is not a lot of improvement (for the cost) and 66 being too much for most people. If not, what is wrong with HTT's 64mm turbo, the "Killer 64"?

I talked to Brett last week and he said they had a 64mm. I really want the 66 but I pull 10000 every now and then and he said with the auto it wouldnt be the best option.

Would a 64 be much better than stock for the money?

I don't know about other trucks, but the PS62 made a huge differance on my truck. No regrets here!!!

I love my SPS66 -- but I don't tow. If I was towing, I would have gone with the PS62 because it spools up faster. My EGTs get a little high until the 66 gets spooled. Nothing worth worrying about, but it might be if towing. The 66 responds very well for a large turbo, but still a little laggier than I would want towing. Just my two cents...

Either way, stick with the PS series!

Well, I towed a small trailer again, grossed at 17,9 and the pressure box helped get the turbo spooled fast enough that lag wasn't really a problem, and not too much smoke if you're in the sweet spot from getting the turbo spooled between bogging and being an EPA star member.

turbo

i have a choice from all 3 the 62, 64,66 so ill do some home work and see which one is the best bang for the buck, my truck is pretty quick now so i like to see it with the 66, i wonder if there is that much of a difference between the 66 and 64, any one tried both or rode in trucks with similar setups that had both??

im running the 62/ 14cm
I tend not to run high rpm's and my temps climb fast when towing till she spools
I really wouldnt want anything slower spooling than I have now
if I keep the rpm's up a little its a beatiful towing turbo
just wish my clutch would hold
