Which one of these did you prefer? Was the 3250 easier for daily driving or not much of a difference?

Really, the pedal pressure on the 3250 is less than the 3600. For my preference, I wanted less pedal pressure. For those guys on the long halls, maybe not quite a factor, but I travel into/from cities and the less the pedal pressure, the better.

Engagement is about the same. It does shift slower than the stock. Really, just the 1st and 2nd gear gear engagements were not quite as smooth. Sometimes, requires a double clutch to get the DD in gear.

Overall, you're happy with it then?
If the BDTD is as far as I ever go with the mods with 35" tires, would the OFE be all the clutch I ever needed?
Would be good for Crazy Larry too?

I've got the Con FE. Its a bit grabby, and peter at south bend told me to not attempt towing with it, but its a good clutch. Still shifts awesome, and holds everything i throw at it. It chatters abit at idle with the clutch disengaged, but its not bad. And will hold 550 rwhp with 35" tires. And yeah the Hydraulic upgrade is a must. I'm certain mine would have crapped out if I hadnt changed it. And it takes lie 2 minutes to install it which isnt much after you just changed the clutch. All in all it took about 6 hours for my brother and I to do the job in my garage with an hour lunch break.

Popping it into 2nd gear is a pain sometimes, I have to rev the motor to the mid 2K's to get it to go in. Reverse was hard sometimes too. I member on here gave a good tip. Before going into reverse, pop it in 3rd gear & give it a lil rev. Then it slides right in.

I did notive that my clutch pedal has to be pushed in all the way to the floor to deactivate the clutch safety switch. Anyone else experience this?

Holds great. I have done a few 3rd gear clutch dumps. Both 35's just spin like crazy and the clutch smiles.

Peter told me if you haul alot, and haul heavy, then the DD 3250 was the only way to go. He said the Con OFE would last 100K miles, where the DD would be good for 500K miles...

My 3250DD is ceramic. Do they make them with another kind of friction surface?

Wow, that thing sounds like a bear to drive. If the above is normal for that clutch I wouldn't use one.

I adjusted the rod one full turn longer last night. I think it is better. I will report back. I have learned that my initial feedback on anything must be given a few days for me to give quality info.

I know, Scott and I both scratched our heads on this one....

As is stands, mine is STILL zip tied up there.

Right angle drill into the firewall is the answer. The angle of the mounting surface just doesn't allow for drilling. I center punched it and all, no luck.

South Bend Clutch

You guys have almost talked me out of getting South Bend Clutch. I'm having the same problem. I run the "edge" chip. In stage 3 (drive mode) my clutch slips in 5th and 6th gear. However, I can't get the clutch to slip in stock mode.

When I took it into the dealer, they couldn't find anything wrong. They said they wouldn't even test the truck in those other settings, only stock mode.

I was thinking about getting the South Bend clutch, but it sounds like they are harder to push, harder to get into the gears you want, and don't shift as easy.
If I spend $1800 (installed) for a new clutch, I want the thing to perform. None of this stuff of putting it in third gear and then putting it into reverse and troubles with 1st and 2nd gear.

Whoa, Whoa, hold on there fella. I have to think that there is a vast MAJORITY of SB customers that are totally satisfied with the product. I for one can say without a doubt, now that I have had the chance to run a South Bend, and experience their customer service,....I'd never consider buying another clutch. It's not just this site as some would like to portray, South Bend is very well known and respected in many circles. Honestly, I have yet to hear one horror story of them NOT making good on their product. That, compared to some other vendors here and other places on the web............

And, where are you getting a DD sprung hub for $1,800 installed?

I LOVE MY SOUTH BEND OFE.
rated at 450hp and holding my mods? Darn good clutch. shifts good, smooth engagement, HOLDS.
and i tow a 10k # trailer.
I will be going to a DD, but first want to find what the limit of this OFE is. Peter makes/sells a great clutch, he will lead you to the proper clutch for your application and intended use. 1 800 988 4345
AND HE WONT SELL YOU WHAT YOU DONT NEED TO MAKE MORE MONEY. Honest, stand up guy
