Smarty SR....0234 codes....please help

Okay so the truck is in my sig, I took the smarty off because I thought about selling it. Before I took the smarty off, I had replaced the boost elbow with an adjustable boost elbow, and adjusted it out to get about 40psi briefly on WOT runs.

Well, not thinking, I took the smarty off without adjusting the elbow back....the truck threw a 0234 code (overboost). I cleared the code with the smarty, and hooked it back up. The smarty is supposed to boost fool automatically, but today a got the dang 0234 code again. What the heck is up?

You need a real boost fooler, like we have been saying for like 3 years now!

so the smarty auto-boost fooling is not working? Why did it work for a while, then stop when I put it back on the truck? Lol....i appreciate the humor....sometimes ya gotta be a cheapskate when you have bigger mods planned. I guess thats counter-intuitive though....bigger mods means you gotta do the small stuff right....dang....aight boys....I'll take your advice.

Smarty does not boost fool, it remaps the boost tables to the limit of the MAP sensor. Once you took it off the boost tables went back to stock and now when the ECU sees readings off the end of the table it sets codes. If you had exceeded the tables Smarty wrote without a BF it would have set the same code.

Like we have been saying for 3 years now.......

eh

Eh? I was under the assumption the Smarty fooled-the-boost. I am seeing 34-40 psi w/ Smarty alone (I pulled my quad b.fooler when Smarty showed up) Am I shorting myself? Do
tell......

soooo...what are my options? Is there a way to reset the tables? The smarty handled all the boost (35-40psi) just fine until I took it off...and now that its back on, shouldnt those tables be reset? Is there a particular procedure to this or am I just gonna get a bag?

No, the Smarty will handle if fine until you go over 45 psi.

You reloaded the Smarty with a SW # and now your getting an over boost code? I understood that you cleared the code but not reloaded, misunderstood that. Try reloading a Smarty tune. It sounds like something did not take or load correctly. Failing that, add a boost fooler and you should be good.

Yeah, thats my issue. The truck threw a boost code AFTER I took it off. But...I put the smarty BACK on the truck to clear the code. Once on the truck, I loaded sw3 tq2 and left it alone....truck did great for two weeks, then bam...defuel...0234 code. If I clear it it will work fine for several days then comes back. Doesn't make sense at all.

Oh thats just a weird one. So you can go out and drive the snot out of it intentionally pushing 40 psi and it won't throw the code immediately but after driving it for a couple days the code comes up?

Right....for example....i cleared the code several days ago, got on it to see if I would get the code, nothing, no defuel, no codes when I got home. Yesterday I drove my father-in-law to the store, he wanted to feel her go, so I rolled into it....no problems on a good WOT run from 2-6 gear. On the way home, I rolled into it hard in fifth, felt the truck defuel, bam, the code came up when we got home. I am at a loss.

The only way I know of that could happen is something is screwy with the MAP sensor. Periodically it throws a signal to the ECU that it can't interpret and you get the code.

Maybe get sme electrical contatc cleaner, spray down the connections, and reset them. Since it doesn't code all the time the tables are loaded and eveyrhting is good from Smarty's perspective so it has to be an intermittent glitch in the electronics.

Did you cross your fingers correctly when you loaded the SW the last time?

A boost fooler will probably cure the problem also.

I just wonder why the heck it only happened after I took the smarty off and put it back on, man I wish I hadn't done that....maybe the truck is addicted to it and is going through withdrawal symptoms....ha what a pain. I'll try the crossed fingers today.

Aight, I cleared the code today...let the truck warm up good before messing with the throttle much.....I reloaded the entire sw3 program, meaning I reset the torq and all instead of just updating the ECM, I went through all the options making sure they were where I wanted them, then loaded the program. Set on sw3 tq2....after a good warm up of 20 or so miles the code didnt come up when I let her build 34 psi. I rolled into it several times today, letting the truck come to average temps before romping on it. I think just completely reloading the entirety of the tune may have solved my issues....earlier I had just went straight to ECM update and let it load....I hope it works...no codes or defuel yet.....yeah fingers crossed.

Well boys, still getting the code, man this is odd. Yesterday I rolled into it, it kinda stumbled when it hit the high psi, defueled. Immediately after that, after running a mile or so down the road I turned around and got on it...the truck blew my mind, went like a raped ape from 10-70 mph on sw2 tq2...I wish it ran like that all the time. Besides the code, do yall think my stocker lift pump is getting weak at 92k? Let me know and thanks to all.
