Question Smarty and Smoke

I have the updated smarty (med torque mgt) set on 7 on my truck and have noticed alot more smoke, on ramps, take off, and not WOT either, anyone else noticed this, is it an issue i should worry about or just ignore it??

Thanks
Chris

I think it would only be an issue to the ricer with his windows rolled down that was on the receiving end of it!

(med torque mgt) = more fuel at lower RPM If you don't want the smoke try the std/stock Smarty TM version maybe??? Also try #5.

I watch my foot and don't over fuel to keep smoke less. But I really don't think it smokes all that much compared to my gen 2 with a #10 torque plate... It was almost imposable to drive w/o black smoke on take off.

Do you have a 6 speed?

the smarty ramps the fuel pressure up quicker at lower rpm, giving more fuel which aids in throttle response and boost buildup. the trade off is smoke until the turbo is spooled.

I just went for a test ride with my right mirror turned down and I get very little smoke on #7 (with Quad Boost fooler) with smooth acceleration and 1/8th -1/4 throttle. Even with a good hill steady smooth pedal movement yields only faint smoke to 1/3 throttle. Pulls more than needed.

However a "blip" from idle will yield a good black puff.

Having the stock clutch I am not hammering the pedal. With a FIRM roll on from 70-105 I can make smoke but it's NOT thick dark smoke .. but faint. At night is is quit visible. But I do not punch it. I feed the motor fuel as it can take it.

i drive it like an over carbed Harley with a S&S w/o a acel. pump... where to much throttle yields less power so you have to roll it on and chase the vacuum as it builds, if that makes any sense to you.

I feel the Smarty fuels very nicely. It may be a tad to sensitive on #7 for plowing... I may load #3 or less for that to keep wheel spin down. My studded tires make a real mess. LOL

When I get my gauges installed next week I will know more about what's going on. Then all that's left is a SB clutch.

973604x4 had that same problem when he tried the Smarty. I have not seen it yet, but have heard of a couple people who have.

I can punch the skinny in "Park" and smoke will roll on level 1 or 3....and it takes a minute for the RPMs to drop? Smoke whisps on Cruise @ 70-75...why? Is there any way to use just the timing feature?

I just downloaded the moderate torque and love it. It has a lot more low end and smoke a little more and I hate to try wild torque I bet it crazy on the low end. My Ofe clutch is hating it now.

don't mean to be hijacking again but this is killin me so i gotta ask. I must be lossing power somewhere because i was expecting my oem clutch to be going out at level nine with the normal tq setting that comes with smarty. well it didn't so i was just playing one day and decided to test out the wild tq management.... i still can't even slip my clutch what gives?

If rstones aftermarket clutch is haveing problems then why is mine doing fine.
im seeing fuel pressure below 5 psi so im in the process of ordering a gdp kit pretty soon. Im hoping this is the problem, cuz if not them im completly lost.

sorry for the long post but this not getting all my power is driving me crazy, i guess im hooked

Is there any way to use the timing without the extra fuel?
