Smarty REVO and Boost fooling?
Smarty REVO and Boost fooling?
Just got my new smarty with the revo, and I was told by richard at browns diesel that it does boost fooling but I don't think I've got it working or not. I've had both a banks and a quad X2 and both of them did boost fooling and I could hit 40-41 psi of boost and with the smarty I can barely hit 30. Anybody know how to get it working with the new REVO?
it may be the level you're running on that's only getting you 30. The Smarty can only boost fool to around 40 to 44psi. That's what the stock ECM is set at and that can't be changed. To completely fool you'll need a fooler or stack it with the Quad

I just have a stock turbo and on both setting 3 and 5 it wont break thirty psi with the wastegate on or off. I'm just wondering cause like I said, with the banks and the quad x2 I could hit 40-44 psi like you said. For some reason the smarty just isn't doing it
I don't get it. Bob and Marco said... and I wish I could find the posts... that the Smarty can only do what the ECM is set to from the factory.
I only run betas or AM programs and can only boost so far without a fooler or I set codes. Even before the dreaded BD days
I give up !

That said, with ONLY the smarty hooked up, using the beta files and I would see 50-55psi all day; never set a code. Now with TNT/R I have hit 70psi... still no codes.
So, I have no real answer either...
I recall the very posts you refer to and that is how I remember it too... that smarty could boost fool to ecm/MAP sensor limits, which is around 40-42psi IIRC.

. It would be nice if Marco replied to the thread and explained why you guys are able to see that high of boost and other can't ??
The sensor can't read above that boost...so there is no need to "fool" above that.
This is a loaded topic...big time.
All (going out on a limb here) tuners and external fuel boxes are all in (max fuel) after 30 psi or even less anyways...so it really does not matter if the ECM reads only to 40 psi.
The Smarty...or other tuners rewrite the fuel map and should also rewrite the set parameters for error codes. So if Smarty writes into the ECM to not throw a over boost code till 99 psi...and the sensor can only read till 40...you would never see an over boost code.
So...unless you want the beneit of low boost fooling...no boost fooler should be needed with the Smarty on the high end.
I see 60-75 psi daily with a happy Smarty!

well I notice in this thread that those that don't have a problem have trucks made from 02 thru 05. The couple that say there seems to be boost problems have newer trucks. Mine is a 07 and I definitely will throw a code on any software I load if I go to 40psi.
Obviously, the newer trucks have different parameters.
