Do you guys know if it is possible to run the Smarty and hook up the Edge basic monitor set up so I can view EGT's, Trans Temp and Boost??? Any of you doing this? If not what monitor do you recommend for the Smarty?

 

DO you mean the edge insight or the attitude monitor? The insight is a stand alone monitor that simply plugs into the obd port under the dash whereas the attitude is in conjunction with the juice module. and it is pluged in via map sensor wiring under the hood. You can use either one with the smarty just as gauges ( if you set the juice to 0 ) I run the smarty with the edge insight monitor, and it is a nice, clean setup.

 

Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I am really glad you understood my question? The diesel tuner thing is new to me, and I still don't really understand how different units can be stacked with one another without issues. I'm a little hesitant to do that. I plan on using the edge insight with the smarty. How do you like your set up? Does it come with all the hook ups to read egt's, boost and trans temp?

 

Just to clarify, the Attitude on an 06 does plug in to the OBD2 as well.

 

I'm buying an 04.5 CTD will it plug into the OBDII port on that truck as well?

 

I don't know for sure on that. The Juice with Attitude I installed was for 06-07. 04.5 might be different.

If you are just programming a tune into the truck with the Smarty. I believe after you program it, the Smarty is removed, and you can plug the Insight back in for the guages.

I've never used a Smarty, so I can't say for certain though...

 

Yes, I do like my setup. I have the dash pod mount for the insight, and it fits well and looks nice and clean there. You have to pay a little extra and specify that you want the egt probe when you order, but everything else is included. To program, you simply unplug the insight frome the obd, plug in the smarty, then when your programming is done, plug the insight back in.... very simple and fast, never leave the drivers seat! If you check the edge website, you'll find that the original insight only works on 06 and up.... but they have the new cs and cts onsights that look way nicer and appear to be for earlier models also.
