I live in WV. I am unsure if we are on winter fuel or not.

Other than than the tires, lift and smarty I also have a 4 inch turbo back exhuast.

I sure hope it is not the TQ converter.

The MPG is alittle better but still not like it was before.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys. I just got back from a hunting trip in IN. (I came back without a deer too)

So far for me it's a love hate feel on lastest version. Love the minimal smoke. But all and all SW is alot differant then prior versions and take more to dial in hence the hate. But thats my feel. Sw3 TM4 TQ2 use to be alot more wicked then now but is still nice but differant for sure. I do notice sw2 TQ1 TM2 is alot stronger through power band then SW2 TQ1 TM4 as it is slow to engage. Mileage seems easier to get then before but can easily fall off just as quick. Also I think my trans is ALOT more sensitive to this version then any other for sure. So still playing good or bad still Love Marcos way of doing things.

Also, running TM4 don't extend your oil change intervals beyond 7.5K and be sure to run a stratapore oil filter or better.
Thanks AH64ID for all the info you have given on the Smarty Jr. I just got one and have had tons of questions. I think I've found my numbers (SW3, TM4, and TQ4 POD@99. If I understand the whole pod thing, I should be @ approx. 425hp, right? If I take the POD down to 80, would that make the hp about 340hp. I'm just trying to get a good understanding of the POD. By the way with my setting, I get minimal black smoke @WOT. I don't have a pyrometer, so i have no idea what the EGT's are. From everything I've read on here, I should be lower than stock, right? With this setting do you think I'm safe on the driveline, as long as I keep my foot out of it? Or should I back off on the POD? Oh I'm also looking for the best mileage too, of course.

PoD isn't quite linear in its power reduction. With PoD at 80 you have 80% of throttle available, hp doesn't equal 1% per TPS so it's not a cut and dried reduction. Your probably in the mid 300's on power? I am at PoD 70 right now and am probably at or slightly lower than stock power when I am WOT, but at lower power levels I am higher.

Your clutch will tell you when your making too much power.

I would get boost and EGT gauges installed.

Would you recommend these settings for my dad's '06 3500, 48re with an ATS VB, 4.10s and 35" tires that is a daily driver? The overhead shows a steady 19.1mpg but we all know how truthful those are . Calculating by hand yields 15-16mpg, IIRC, for around town/back and forth to work. We're gonna put a built 48re in it sometime this year. A good, tight converter and trans should bump mileage a little bit.

I would probably set it at SW2 max, SW1 is probably safer.

We've been running it on SW-3, TM-D, TQ-D. He drives it easy with very rare short WOT bursts. But you're suggesting SW-1 or 2, TM-4, TQ-4 and PoD-80, correct?

With a stock tq converter I would run it on SW1 TMD TQ4 PoD 99, SW2 with the same settings max if he has a soft right foot, i.e. not WOT from a stop/

THANKS! Now I think I understand how POD works. Everything feels the same up to WOT. In other words with my setting, it would drive the same up to whatever number put into POD.

Kinda. At PoD 99 each 1/100 of throttle movement equals 1 level of input. At PoD 70 each 1/100 of throttle movement equals .7 levels of input.

It dealt with some 03/03.5 CARB issues, no changes to tuning.

Long story short, sold my smarty jr awhile ago but recently got another. It has version 5.08 and want to update it to the latest. Is there a way I can keep 5.08 on the computer and go back if desired?

Why would you go back? 5.08 had an error in programming, if you want the kind of tq management (or lack there of) that 5.08 offered get a Smarty Sr.
