Smarty Jr, is the PoD that big a deal?
Like the subject says, is the PoD a big deal? If you could by a used Jr without PoD $200 cheaper that a new Jr with PoD, would you?

I don't think the POD is that great of a feature. I don't get why people would download a ton of power and then run pod on 50. Why not just download a lower power program in the first place. I would save the money.

The key is the ease of changing your power levels. If all you want is a little bit of power, then just download the lower program and run it. But it's nice to be able to have big power available when you want/need it, and dial it up or down without having to pull over and spend time reloading your programmer.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can download the PoD file for the Smarty Jr. from the MADS website for free and it requires no hardware updates. In other words, if you want PoD, just download it, load it onto the Smarty Jr, and you're done.

I don't use the PoD, I just set it at 99 and run SW1. I bought a new one because I have been burned buying used prior, and until I beef up the tranny I will be keeping it there.
