Shocks

I am looking for new shocks for my truck. I would like opinion on Rancho 5000 series, 9000 series and Bilstein shocks (not sure what is available for 2500 4wd). I don't tow often and if I do it is usually under 5k, but can go up to about 10-12k. The larger weight would be with a 32' gooseneck, the smaller weights with a bumper pull.

Thanks,
Nick

Id look into the Bilstien 5150's or 5100's.... Some of the best shocks out there IMHO.

Don't buy Rancho 5000's. Mine have been on a little less than a year, and the front ones are shot.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to do the rear soon and wait and do the front when I saved a little more money. I am getting line-x or rhino and xzillaraider soon, so I am trying not to spend too too much at once.

Thanks

On my 1500 I got Blisteins and they were shot in less than a year. Also the ruber mounts on them melted off and I had to use the stock ones after that. When the time comes I will be getting the Rancho 9000.

Does Bilstein even have a dedicated shock for the 3rd gen HD's? I know about the re-valved Kore/DRC shocks but has anyone had issues with these? I had Bilsteins on my '00 2500 and liked them until the bushing issues as mentioned above by cheff.

I had the Monroes, I mean Ranchos before. Put Bilstiens on this time. Stick with the Bilstiens. Just my opinion.

Rancho's are junk.
I ran them, not impressed at all.

Once I go with aftermarket shocks, I will probably get Bilsteins.

If you want versatility for various loads and an nice ride when empty, I would recommend the rancho 9000's. They may not last forever, but you get a no-hassle free replacement at any authorized Rancho dealer.

Search online...jackit.com or shocks something.com and you will find them. Strano Perforance Parts (I think he is a DTR member/sponsor) will hook you up. I would use him.

Don't be worried about the one negative Bilsteen post. Must have been a freak of nature. They are hands down the best shock (miles ahead of any Rancho product) availible that is not a full blown race shock (ie $300 or so a piece range...FOX/King etc.) The 5100's that currently fit our Dodges work excellent whether they are specific or not. Kore even gave them their stamp of approval. The only "improvement" they gave them in valving wast increase rebound damping in the rear (which is needed for an unloaded truck racing down a whooped up dirt road...and not so important for what most of us do). Give them a shot. Best money spent on the ride quality of my truck.
