serpintine belt

well had my belt split in half and break in a few spots tonight luckly was just at the end of the driveway so got it home easy checked with a dull flashlight and could see some powersterring fluid on my sterring box didnt look to see what esle it had takin out but that was just a perfect way to end a bad day..was pulled over by the police today and was told to get bushwackers and mud flaps cuz my wheels stick out just a little bit and that my dodge taillight covers are illegal and that i put the lift in my self so they wanted me to get a full inspection done on my truck beacsue he thougth that the cummins was to heavy and with a 5 inch lift its gonna crack my frame, they have nothing better to do in the little town i live in so they gotta pick on me and my buddy with a big slow old 7.3psd

X 2 on the spare belt - ranks right up there with a spare tire, IMO!

... glad I live in TX; around here, when the cops pull me over - they want to ogle the truck.

yea i was gonna get a spare belt to but i thought id wait a little while longer because mine still looked good...now that i went and looked at it in the day light my sterring box is fine the pully for the sterring has a little tiny bit of play in it i dont kno if that is normal? and theres a plastic pully on the belt tensiorner that has a good chunk misssing out of it... i am heading back to work tonight and none of the dodge dealers around have that tensiorner pully so i have to leave my truck at home.

I'm sure that compromised tensioner pulley accelerated the belt's demise...

I sure could have used a spare belt last weekend. I'll know better next time I lost the belt and tensioner pulley.

It's tight but it didn't take me more than 45 min. taking my time. I didn't think of doing the t stat while I was there Next time.

Gates and Goodyear gatorback are both excellent belts.

I'm currently running the gatorback b/c it doesn't "chirp" when I shut down the truck.
