Scanner Software & Interface With Speedo Cal
Does anyone know of any PC based OBDII scanner software/interface combination that can also be used to set the speedo calibration? I've Googled but not come up with anything.
Thanks, TF |
wouldn't it be cheaper to have a shop do the pinion factor for you? Then just buy a generic scanner if you really want a scanner? I don't know about in the south, but here in NH I get $35.00 to set the pinion factor.

The Dodge dealer here said he could only calibrate up to 285's or 295's. That don't help much when you got 315's. i'd like to be able to adjust mine too.

Any shop with a snap-on scanner can do it, or go to ebay and buy a old MT2500 snap-on scanner with the software to do it for about $350.00 or so. Just make sure it comes with key 13 and software that goes to at least 2001.

Whoops, disregard that last post. I forgot you had a 3rd gen. A MT2500 will not work for you. so don't go and buy one. But any shop with a new generation snap-on scanner still can do it for you.

Thanks for the replies.
I like the idea of being able to do it myself. Since I am going to have to pay something, if I go to the dealer, I thought I would apply it toward the scanner software instead. Also, my speedo and odometer have different errors. The odo is almost 10% off, and the speedo is 6% off, so it looks like some finessing may be in order. I sure don't want to go back to the dealer several times to get it just the way I like it. Unfortunately, it is beginning to look like scanner software that can handle ABS writes is unobtainium. :( |
I'd like to hear about it if you do find one! I've often thought about getting a cheap programmer just for that reason. I do know that you can get a module called the Superlift Truespeed that does it. i think they are about $300. They have two settings, for if you change tire sizes seasonaly or whatever.
If someone can tell me how to post a link, I could try to put the link for that module on here. |
It's actually spelled Superlift TruSpeed and I found one at 4WS.com for only $186.90. I guess the local guy that quoted me $300 is making some money!
Anyway, check it out because it might be just what the doctor ordered! |
