Satellite Radio
Have not heard the regular radio in over a year and cds maybe twice in that time. Get one that you can take with you. Mine has a docking station in the car and in the house/garage. Sirius is the way to go.

Go with Sirius. By FAR better programming than XM (IMO). They have the best metal channel (although it sounds like you're not much of a metalhead). I also listen to Rawdog, Blues, Octane, Faction, TalkLeft, NPR, Outlaw Country (**** good channel).
Ok so I couldn't wait
I went to best buy tonight and got one. One question: Where did you mount the antenna and how did you route the wire into the cab? I got the Sirius unit that hooks up to my Kenwood DVD headunit, hopefully it will work as well as the rest of it.

Under the dash, up the A-pillar, through the headliner and out the third brake light. Just a little silicone where it comes out of the brake light and no worries with water leaks. I did mine this way over a year ago and not one drip of water inside the cab. By the way I live in the great pacific northwest so if it was going to leak it would have. Just got through with 31 striaght days with rain, and it's raining today again.

I went in the headliner along the back window, then down the back pillar to the sill molding, up to the passenger seat, then under the carpet to the middle seat. This way, I can get to the Sirius unit if need be.
I have heard of people mounting the box closer to the Head unit, under the dash. If I could have found a nice, flat spot I would have went under there too. Heres mine:

My brother and sister in law both have FM modulated units, neither have complaints of sound quality that I know of. I have however heard comments on here about guys going from the antenna modulators to hardwired because of problems with interference.
I wanted to get out of my factory headunit (no rear channels for some reason) anyway, so this was the way to fly for me.
I am glad I have a "hardwired" set up now that I have it, no chance for distorsion or interference this way.

Huh. Maybe they aren't as particular as us I guess?!
I love my sirius!! I have had it now for 4 months, and I now hate to listen to "regular" radio. Seems the local stations keep playing the same songs over and over. Love the 80s, 90s, hair nation (80s metal), and #61, not the classic country, but not the new stuff, all the songs it seems like no one plays anymore. I love mine, it is the suction cup windshield mount, with the magnetic antenna, just pull the door weatherstripping down a bit, and put the antenna on the roof. I can swap mine from one vehicle to another in 5 minutes or less. Mine does use the FM modulator, and I only have a problem in one area for about 5 miles, and i travel two states with work, so I don't have to change the transmitter frequency. Really looking forward to the built in unit on the 06, now i don't have to swap it at all when i take the horses somewhere.
