Rokktech, Nelson, or Donaldson...need input and opinions!

I'm currently running the Aero 4040 and the drone is becoming more than I can bear when I'm towing. After about an hour...I'm ready to murder someone! I've searched and read till my eyes hurt but just want some straight up input and opinons on the Rokktech, Nelson, or Donaldson. I still want the straight-thru performance but gotta ditch the annoying drone!

How quiet are they? No drone correct? Performance or MPG increases?

Right now I'm leaning towards the Rokktech...

Donaldson 51"

I just had the 51" Donaldson installed on my o6. It is just slightly louder at idol and a little louder under throttle. The cat is missing also. Its a good fit and their is no drone at all at any RPM. I paid 60.00 for the Donaldson and another 80.00 for the install.

I installed the Aero Turbine 4040XL 2" off my cat and the drone made me want to kill someone, after many people on here told me I installed it in the wrong place, I called the Tech at Aero Turbine and was told to move the muffler as far to the rear as possible, I moved it to just before the bend in tail pipe where it goes over rear axle, thats back more than the stock muffler, it's under the truck bed, not the cab, I can hear it back there and under a hard pull or on highway when I really floor it, no drone, but I haven't towed with it yet so I can't say for sure, But I can tell you it is a 100% better. If I were you, I'd move it back as far as you can before you buy a new muffler. Hope this helps.

I have the Rokktech and had a MBRP muffler onthe truck, which while towing would drive you nuts unless you blew your ears out with the radio.

I still hane the Rokktech but have since installed a donaldson 51" muffler with the cat in place and it is quieter than stock at idle and only when you get on it does it make a sound.

To me it was a great investment. I can now hear the radio going any speed without turning it up constantly the faster that I went.

I've had the rokkteck's and loved them.. Kept the kitty so noise was about the same as stock.

I've already removed my CAT so will this make a difference on the rokktech, nelson, or donaldson as far as drone/noise??

i had the aero 4040L and the rocktech with the cat, pretty loud still. two days ago on a trip the rocktech cam apart (both ends at the bottom split out), had to replace it before it fell off. put on a magna flow (only thing available in town), now really loud (also had them take off the cat). as i did not notice any improvement in mileage or power without the cat i will be having that put back on ith a 51" donaldson in the next eek or so. will have an aero turbine and magnaflow for sale. everyone seems to be very happy with the donaldson.
I tow constantly so i don't like noise, smoke or anything else annoying (getting old i guess)

The Nelson 51" sounds pretty much the same as stock. No drone, even towing up hills, stepping into it, etc.

Put a tip on it and extend it past the rocker panel. Better yet, ditch the stock pipes and go total aftermarket turbo back to tip.

Heh, I'm a broke-*** college student my friend. My main hobby (motocross) takes up about 75% of my time/money so I dont have the funds to spend some serious dough on a turbo back system...

I mostly just want to try out something new with the truck....I like playing/testing new mods just to see what happens. One of these mufflers are more in my price range for me...
