Replacement headlamp bulbs
Anyone tried the Sylvania Silver Star replacement bulbs?
I go to Walmart and check them out and there are just a bunch of returned opened packages, makes me suspicious. |
I have had them for almost a year, and they're certainly brighter than the stock bulbs - which isn't hard to achieve. For their performance and cost, I'd get them again, but believe there are better bulbs out there.
Got mine at Wally World too. |
At around $38 they seem worth a try. Any other suggestions?

There are lots of archive threads on Silverstars and other replacement headlamp bulbs. Here's a long one from sometime back.

One of the first things I did to my truck was install the SIlverstars. I had them in my old F250 and liked them. Of all the fancy bulbs I've seen hanging in the stores, these ones don't turn the light blue, purple or something other than white, can't counfuse me with the fart can crowd. I will admit I'm too much of a tightwad to try the PIAA and comparible lights[laugh] which I believe might be better.

The PIAA Extreme White Bulbs made such a big difference in my truck that I got them for my wifes car. And she loves them too.

It's some reading, but I found this site to be very helpful when trying to pick better headlight bulbs.
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...lbs/bulbs.html One issue is that much of it says goes against what you'll hear word of mouth, what folks say "seems" brighter. The other tidbit is that the euro-spec versions of the silverstars don't have any tint and therefor don't look as white, but also produce more light. The bummer is that I can't find any 6007 euro spec bulbs. :( I've used this shop in the past and been very happy www.powerbulbs.com |
