Removing muffler viod warranty?

Hey guys my truck is basically 90% factory and the exhaust is factory. The muffler just took a crap on me and I want to just cut it off and just put a piece of exhaust pipe in place of it for now but will this void the warranty? Once the warranty is up I plan on buying a nice kit but would this work for now?

we need to know what year it is. you can replace the muffler, remove it completely, but if originally equipped with a kitty, you are not supposed to touch it.

I'm no rocket scientist here but, I would be willing to bet he is referring to a 1993, and "it" based on the context of his post any way is only referring to the muffler. But I could be wrong. As far as warranty goes I can't believe he would have any warranty left on it if it is a 93 model though. Either way the muffler is not an issue with warranty but the catalitic converter is...correct? I hope so because I just ordered a muffler delete kit for my 06 and if it is going to void my warranty I will just send it back.

I just spoke to the service manager at Earnhardt Dodge in Arizona and he said one of the biggest warranty voids (with computer chips being #1) is exhaust. It really sounds like you have to prove to them that your modification didn't cause a problem instead of the other way around. I also spoke about guages and auto-start. He said as long as they were wired correctly he doesn't see a lot of problems with those, but the exhaust thing he was pretty specific about.

how did you deduce from his post with a lack of signature, that he has a 1993? he could have a '93 camaro, graduation year, HE could be 93.........
obviously there isnt a warranty on it, if it is 15 years old.
It is the catalytic convertor.

He has or had a 93 Dually but he just came to own an 04 2500
So that would be the one with the warranty.

It was a shot in the dark, and I can't spell to save my life.
But I still think he is only referring to the muffler and not the catalytic convertor. But then again who am I?

Ya! oith rambe bee. thedealer around here sells and 6 inch exaust at the parts counter. Even some of the dealers have got them installed on their own new 3rd gens. And I have seen them myself put them on as an "eccessory" on some of the new trucks that roll out of there. Really. Just depends on the dealer.
