remote starters

Is it a good idea to use a remote starter in cold areas, to ahieve warm up instead of sitting in the cold?

I have one and it works great winter or summer. Get the grid cycle over and the oil moving before you even get in the truck. I use mine almost every start.

I love mine as well. Remote start in the morning while its still plugged in. On really cold mornings it will go into high idle by itself and be at least fairly warm when I climb in. These things dont like to heat up... even at high idle.

The starting of the truck is great without stepping outside but if the remote system has the turbo cool down timer option, it makes it even better. No longer do I have to sit and wait for the EGT's to drop. I just hit the button on the fob and walk away.
