Remote Start W/ 6sp.
Yep, DEI is the leading manufacturer of alarms and remote starters. Viper and Python are just a couple brands they make - I don't think those lines control diesels and manuals, but I believe they have one that does. Just got to dig a little and contact them.www.directed.com
Yes I have one on mine and have installed 2 others. However you MUST get one that was made for a manual trans. I know you can make an auto version work however there is NO built in safety features. Everyone says that "well I'll remember to leave it out of gear" and while you might, others that drive your truck probably won't and it's not worth running over someone just so you can have a warm truck.
There are few companies that make them however they are available. The 3 manuals I've done were Ultrastart and seem to work well. I recommend getting a "2-Way" version reguardless of brand so you can tell if it's running without being able to see the truck.

Yes, in addition to the clutch switch, they synch up to your wait-to-start lights relay so that they never hard start in cold weather. It's pretty cool. Also, with these trucks, there is big time positive feedback with the key in both the on and accessory position unlike some cars so you won't go cranking a started motor!

As posted above .. it's either a clutch safety switch or a neutral safety switch depending on who you ask. Most Vipers that have the alarm/remote start built in have the glow plug wire on the alarm itself. The new 5900 and 7900 also have turbo timer built in. I bought a Viper 5900.
Also, as posted above, don't put a remote start on a stick without a safety switch becaues the diesel won't stall out with no throttle and will just start driving away. Most shops won't even install them in a manual due to liablity issues but any Viper authorized dealer will definitely put in a safety switch because they are held liable and that's how you get the warranty on the Viper so they have to do it right and they have to be authorized.

My Pit stop works on my truck, but when i get out and shut the door, my truck turns off..? also why i try to remote start it i can hear the module clicking but it doesnt turn my truck over? and suggestions on what the problem is.. do i need some kind of bypass for my clutch?
Thanks
I install them all day, I have worked for Circuit City for 5 years now and have installed countless remote starters on diesel's mostly fords though but have done my share of dodges. Circuit City nore bestbuy will do manual vehicles, But I do on the side...
First if dealing with DEI there is no need to go to the dealer for clutch switch, there is no automatic or manual remote starts the all have a neutral safety switch wire. Most now have turbo timers built in. The ranges keep getting bigger too, they have a one mile now and are developing a 2 mile. It installs the same way as an auto except you have to interupt the cluch wire and if there is one hook up a neutral safety wire or connect it to the E-brake. Few trucks will start and drive off with the e brake on. I can help you out all I can on you pitstop problems but I need to know your truck. Well I am going out to bdubs for about 3 hr for wings but if you guys have some serious q's I will help all I can as this site has helped me. Peace Tom
