recon cab lights-again! (problem)

i stayed away from them after reading many posts that they did not fit properly. then the latter posts on the recon cab lights were saying they were fitting better- due to a redesign on recon's end. well, i got myself a set two weeks ago. mine do not seal tight at all. the first drive in the truck was hilarious!! i had such a large obnoxious hum coming from my roof because the lights did not seal properly. the recon's appear to be the same shape, etc as the factory lights. the problem i think is the recon foam seals are too thin. they do not contour with the light properly when the light is tighten down. recon told me to send them back for another set. but i did not want to go through the hassle of unsplicing and resplicing in the factory lights and doing it all again when the new ones arrive. so, recon is sending me out another set of gaskets. i am going to double up on the gaskets and see if the seal is tighter, etc. if not, they are going back.
anybody else buy a set that did not have any problems with the fit and finish of them?? thanks.

I had the same problem but mine leaked really bad and I put them on just before I deployed so the wife was stuck trying to fix it. She finally took it to the dealer and they replaced them with with factory lights under the TSB and no problem since. I liked the way the recons looked but the quality is bad. Along with the leaking the bulbs were not the correct voltage and burned out in the first 2 days of install. So the bottom line is when ever I talk about modding my truck the wife gives me the evil eye and reminds me of this mod so I have to keep things on the down low..

i havent had one problem with my recon lights. i just took some extra steps when i installed them. i used rvt on the bases and gaskets, went to the local ace hardware and found some perfect fit flat rubber washers. i used them with regular stainless washers for the screw holes and they do not leak.

I also have not had any issues with the cab lights. I do know that Recon is coming out with new improved cab lights which will be plug and play, and will also be ALL L.E.D. That is what I will be waiting for. Recon knows of the fitment issue and is taking the neccessary steps to correct it.

Where are you puting the silicon? In between the foam gasket and light or the foam gasket and the roof?
